Since I am a very eclectic lover of music, I am going to give this a listen now and see if it is worthy of a spot on my iPod next to "I Like Guns" by Steve Lee.

I LOVE "I Like Guns." Song is great and video is funny as heck.

There's a lot of "freedom rock" out there these days, and most isn't very good. "I Like Guns" is the exception to that rule.

And I smiled when he said his wife gave him a .357 revolver, because my wife gave me one for my birthday!

If you don't like abrasive punk rock, skip on my CD to the song "We Are The Good Guys". It's the most pop song on there. Well, except "My Gun Keeps You Honest."

Just unzipped the file, got through the first song and on second, so far so good.

I can certainly dig the style. If I hear any screamo though, then I'll get judgemental, but I'll try to stay professional about it



I don't mind abrasive music though....

I'm really old-school (played in punk bands in DC and Virginia and San Francisco in the early 80s, and my musical tastes are kind of frozen there), so I don't really know what "Screamo" is.

I did see the band Rites of Spring live at one of their eight shows, at Food for Thought in DC. They're commonly called the first "emo" band, but they sounded NOTHING like what is called emo now.

I'm assuming "screamo" is a variation of "emo", right?

But "Gun Control Gets Women Raped" kinda sounds riot grrrrrrrrrrrrrl on the choruses, because I had my wife scream backup on it.

But "angry times call for angry screams", ya know?

I mean, what makes more sense....quietly murmuring about rights being trampled, or SCREAMING about it? lol....

I take that as a compliment. Thank you!

There are all kinds of influences on it, including Motorhead, Minor Threat, Nine Inch Nails and a LOT of Dead Kennedys. I always liked them, but I can't stand a lot of their lyrics now, they're so damn socialist.


The CD is all me, except for some backup singing and talking from the wife, and a friend played guitar on two of the ten songs.

I don't have a touring band, been there, done that. It's just a hobby now, and a way to possibly "infect" some youngsters with the truth. I'm 45 and am long over sleeping on floors for beer money.

Screamo isn't emo, it's just another form of hardcore punk. Sometimes I'll find a song I like but typically not.

Anyway, finished listening to the album... nice work... I will be honest though I had to skip the Letter to a Young Me. I'm not in the right state of mind for it just yet, but I will listen to it before this weekend is even half way over with.

Hmmmm...doesn't really do it for me. I don't hear a melody in any of it.

Strong melody seems to be the common denominator in all the music I like, whether it's Minor Threat, Slayer, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Nick Cave or Leonard Cohen.

As for hardcore punk not fitting into the "scene" of industrial music, I've never been a part of any "scene." Even when I've tried to be. lol....

Even when I've been around around the nascent days of things, I've usually been perceived as a bit of an outsider, whether it was Dischord punk in DC in the 80s, being a bike messenger in San Francisco, playing the punk circuit with a punkish but not quite "punk" band (Bomb) in the late 80s and early 90s, or "being a part of the open carry movement" now.

I didn't know there was an "open carry movement", until someone re-posted my open carry blog pix last summer on here (and called me a "unicorn", i.e. the rare person who open carries without knowing about OpenCarry.org).

That's how I found this site.

I actually hadn't posted in a while, I've been busy moving, and then out livin' life in my new state, open carrying.

I saw a news show on mainstream TV the other day, mentioned OpenCarry.org, and I signed back in after many months.

There's no "scene" here, just me and my wife. I just do what I do, and people usually ignore it or complain.

Works fine on my end. lol. ...

Sorry. A few decades of defending against idiots saying "you're not punk!" lol....

It's funny now that I sometimes finding myself defending that BS coming from people who were not born when I was in my first punk band. (And they're usually people who shop at Hot Topic.)

I don't think I ever was "punk", it has too many meanings to sign up for the whole thing. But I like a lot of older music called punk.

I just downloaded the album and I am into the first track right now, It has a very "Dead Kennedy's/Black Flag'ish feel to it.

I like it, I plan to get it into the Ipod and get through the album while driving today.

Thanks, I though my preferred style of music left in the1980's, I am glaqd to see someone still doing it.

I love that style of music too, but the lyrics were often so damn leftist, I just had to reclaim it and make it pure.

Jello Biafra taught me not to trust the government, but he also thinks the government should punish the successful. When he ran for mayor of San Francisco against Feinstein, he did it on a platform of that she was too far right for him. He proposed a maximum wage, for one.

There aren't many people making music like that anymore for some reason. There's a lot of "punk rock" today, but most of it is either poppy wimpy mall punk, or it's hardcore that doesn't have much melody and is just angry without the spark and humor that the old stuff had. (just my opinion.)
