LOS ANGELES -- City Councilman Paul Koretz wants Starbucks to stop allowing customers to carry firearms inside the company's coffee shops.

In recent months, the "open-carry" arm of the gun-rights movement, which advocates that gun owners carry visible weapons as they go about their daily business, have been exercising their rights.

They've been proudly displaying their sidearms in public places, sometimes meeting up in groups.

Koretz is joining petitioners in asking the Seattle coffee chain to ban customers from carrying guns inside its locations.

The councilman says allowing handguns in public locations could turn deadly.

Starbucks says it complies with local gun control laws and wants to stay out of the gun-control debate.

City officials don't know what they're talking about most of the time.

To add a little perspective what should be mentioned is something quite simple:

Starbucks did nothing more than exercise their property right to not ban people who carry guns from being on/in their property.

Along with the private property right to ban there is also the right to not ban. And that right has nothing to do with the public, public accommodation, any politician's or public official's thoughts or opinions, or the Brady Campaign's agenda/elitist assumption they can tell others what to do.

And it is the other side of property rights, the right to not ban, that has the Bradys, and apparently Mr. Paul Koretz's, panties all wadded up because Starbuck's decision to not ban showed that property rights are more powerful than Mr. Paul Koretz's opinions and the Brady's attempts at intimidation. Starbuck's decision to not ban showed that the Bradys... and Mr. Paul Koretz.. have no real power over business owners.

Showing an elitist lefty that they have no power is an unforgivable insult to their ego.
