All, I am going to be in Tacoma this weekend, Friday-Sunday and am looking at a few places to stay.

Currently I am looking at a hotel in Lakewood on the Pacific Highway, just across from McChord/ Ft. Lewis and the other is in Tacoma on East 27th, it appears to be near the port. Which would be a safer place to crash for a few nights while I am there with myself and my girlfriend? They are both La Quinta Inns and I am partial to staying there since i have some nice rewards from them. My other options are in Kirkland or Lacey

I need to be within reasonable driving distance from Tacoma Comm. College, that is where the testing I am taking part in takes place.

Also, I am free Friday and Saturday afternoons. Anyone want to have a short notice meet a guy from the East Side??

Thanks in advance!

WAC gun show until 4ish Sat afternoon? Are you available then?

La Quinta is good, there is one in Tacoma/Fife just off of I-5. Near the Tacoma Dome. I am available this weekend if you wanna meet up.

Gun show you say? I will do my best to get there. I will have to go find the thread that I am sure exists on it.

Is the I-5/Fife area pretty safe, relatively speaking?

Just as long as you're not along Pacific Avenue you're fine, and it's a bit off the interstate.

I'd love to meet up and OC a bit.

casino not far, industrial type area, I have had family stay there and never had any issues.

When I worked at the oil refineries, as a contractor, I used to stay at the Ramada on Pac HWY just north of Port of Tacoma Road. I went to my room and rested for about a half hour until my phone rang. I stepped out to talk and smoke and realized that my truck had been stolen. It turns out (force of habit, oil refinery requirement) that I had left my keys in the ignition. It had been pouring rain, and they thief got a few hundred yars before running it over the curb and getting stuck, before fleeing on foot (never to be seen again). When I called Fife PD, they asked for a description. The operator told me to walk out to the road, look to the left and walk to the flashing lights. I got there just after the wrecker hauled it out of a ditch. I got my truck back, no charge, with no damage (it was just stuck in some mud).

Aside from that, I've heard, the La Quinta is nice, its a little nicer 'hood. Stay away from the Fife area, and you'll be okay.

For La Quinta Inns and Suites - the one near the Tacoma Dome will be far the easiest and closest for you, in regards to TCC and other locations (casino, downtown, etc).

Good is that it's walking distance to Bullseye Indoor Shooting Range (about3/4 mile). Can get a bit "shady" at night but that's almost anywhere.

Tacoma Mall is half way in between your two choices.

The other one is near a few gun shops - Surplus Ammo / Tactical Tailor (about 1 1/4 miles) or to the Marksman Indoor Range off Canyon Road (about 6 miles)

I should be able to make it to the WAC show Saturday and swing by the table. Dinner afterwards?

I have the TPD written exam in the morning and should be done by 2pm.

May have to go check out some of the local gun and gear shops since I have all afternoon and evening today to screw around.
