Recommendations for leather belt

I am looking for a tough, thick leather belt in the $50 range to carry around my handgun for open carry. The current belt I have now lasted about 2 months and it's now starting to show signs of tearing where the buckle is stitched in place. Repaired it for now, but I need a super thick belt to replace it soon. I carry a Ruger P95PR in a Galco COP 3 slot series holster and I plan to get a single mag pouch later as well.

Any recommendations?

Checkwith someone who does quality cowboy leather. That may becustom made and a little cha,ching. If it is try your local western wear store, I like Boot Barn

The $50 range is going to be a major challenge for a tough, thick, leather gun belt.

I've got one for casual everyday wear and it's great.

For less casual wear, I've got a black leather one from Comp-Tac:

It's more than your desired price range but I love it. Looks good and wears great.

I carry a G22 in an MTAC IWB or an iTAC/RSR Defense OWB and both belts support with no sag. Double mag paddle rig on the weak side too.

You will never wear out a Liger belt - just beyond your price limit though.
read up on this one - unusual properties.

I love mine (had it several yrs) and will be ordering another color.

Good thread - I was hoping that the ~$40 Bianchi leather belt (http://www.holsters.com/bianchi/B26.asp) that I ordered two months ago would last a long time, but it is already wearing down under the holster area.

I carry a S&W M&P 9mm in a Blackhawk Serpa.

I have recently been looking at the ~$50 Safariland Model 851 (http://www.holsters.com/concealment/accessories/model851.asp) and the ~$40 Wilderness Tactical instructor belt (http://store.thewilderness.com/product_info.php?cPath=43&products_id=2007&osCsid=s67bd3m1m2g374ibb977cn8d80).

A an email or letter to Bianchi telling them of your disappointment would not hurt. You never know.

I cannot say too much good about the Liger belt I mentioned earlier - they are fantastic.

Check out Rob @ "Simply Rugged"---great stuff---within your price range-you won't be sorry--I have a belt--several holsters---a "most versatile" ammo pouch----I have no need to go anywhere else.

For 30 bucks more you can own the Cadillac of gun belts IMO.

I have one each in black and brown. wear them everyday whether carrying or not. First Class.

I've used AKJ Concealco belts for over a decade. And just to clarify, that's 2 belts. No problem with the first one, it just became too small

Their belts are comprised of 2 layers of leather with a "rigid but flexible material" in between. Get the most stiffness by ordering "heavy reinforcement". It might seem counter-intuitive, but I've found an extremely stiff belt to be the most comfortable.

Their belts don't stretch. They don't sag. They don't twist. Can't go wrong, IMHO.

find your local cop shop, and go see what they sell for belts. nobody wears more accessories on their belts than cops, so those belts have got to be at least 1/2way decent. LOL

Most frequently the style is determined by their agency.

Have no desire to wear a LEO type rig with snap keepers etc.

I found a thick and stiff 1" wide Dickies leather belt at Wal-Mart for ~$10. Works fine holding up my jeans, XD in a Serpa paddle holster, and the normal pocket contents (wallet, keys, cell, knife, asthma inhaler). I've had it for maybe 3 months now and it seems to be holding up fine.

...takes a while because they hand make these to order, but it's a total win. I've had mine for two years looks just like it did the day I bought it.
