So someone mentioned try to OC during the harley biker river run in laughlin....

And I'm just wondering...is that a bad idea?
I don't get it... Bikers do carry weapons and look what happend a few years back.

I'm sure people conceal carry, so why not open?
Maybe we can get a group to meet up...

As long as we all stay away from alcohol it should be an awesome time.

I'll be there the last 2 or 3 days, but I'll be concealing.

I don't know how gun-friendly the casinos are the rest of the year, but I expect them to crack down during the River Run. Too much bad stuff has happened when you have a very large number of bikers drinking. It's only a small percentage, but they tend to give the rest a bad reputation.

I know for sure that Harrah's puts signs at the doors (decals on the glass, so it looks permanent) during the River Run saying "No Colors, No Weapons". They've done it the last 2 years, at least. And I walked right past the signs with my gun concealed. Not sure if the other casinos do too, but it's a safe bet. Harrah's signs come down promptly after the River Run ends.

As for OCing while walking Casino drive, I won't try to encourage or discourage you. It would be a major test of Metro's OC training. I just don't want to be the one testing them.

Also, watch out for horse crap. The River Run is the one time I've seen Metro bring out the horses.

I have attended for the last 7 years....They bring in cops from 4 states...and it is a real difficult time for OC.... I don't recommend it... They quote federal laws and use Home land security as an excuse to take your gun and detain ya.....Damn near under marshal law in the town for a week... ATF'S , Federal Biker Task Force, is there in full strength...
But just my observation....I carry mine in my pocket.....

HaHa you guys are funny, yea I grew up across the river so I been there a lot but my legal age and responsiblity of owning a firearm has all happend the last few years since I've been stuck in california.

I have a utah ccw but nevada had to be a jerk and started not to recognize it anymore.

That was my only real reason I thought about and mentioned OC

I actully thought NV did a good thing when they dropped the Utah permit...It stopped a lot of people that had no proficiency with a hand gun from walking around Nevada...

    But just my opinion.....

In this country people have the right to keep and bear arms. Not one time does it say, with training. Just because you went through some 8 hour course prested by some guy does not mean you are proficiant either. Spend some time on the NV shooters forum to learn how wildly different instructors are, very few have any clue as to what they are doing.

We will for sure go down there and will walk the strip we will have to group up and have shirts or something to distiguish us from the crowd besides our firearms. The bible beaters are out there spreading their propaganda why can't we excersize our rights as law abiding citizens and carry our arms. We really have to do this will be a great experience I can't wait!!!

Anyone can carry a gun in Nevada with no training. No permit is needed to open carry.

If you want people to be proficient with firearms taking away the right and making it a privilege is not the answer.

If it was part of the education for all people, there would be no excuse to take away the right to bear arms for such a trifling reason. The only problem is the anti-gun people that think that keeping children ignorant about firearms makes them handle firearms better.

Most people will voluntarily learn what they need to know before carrying a gun though. I personally would prefer the right to bear arms and allow the rare person who is not so proficient to carry than eliminating the right. Making a permit system is effectively saying that people cannot be trusted to have guns.

The primary effect of making of making it more difficult for law-abiding people to carry a gun, (such as by requiring a permit,) is to decrease the number of good people with guns. I think that costs far more lives than any legislated proficiency ever would.

In my opinion NV should go the way of Alaska and Vermont and allow everyone to carry concealed with no permit, just like everyone can carry openly with no permit. Concealed guns are no more dangerous and require no additional proficiency. I do not believe you will find any evidence to show that Alaska and Vermont are less safe for not requiring all people to take classes, pay fees, and be registered with the government before carrying concealed.

One thing that I think is strange is that most gun owners are appalled at the idea of registering guns or requiring a license to own a gun, yet so many think registering people who carry guns is a great idea. Not to mention that such "confidential" government records tend to get released to the public to let everyone know who owns guns. That has happened in several states. In Nevada not only are people who can legally carry concealed registered, but they also include a list of all the guns you are qualified with. It would make for a good shopping list.

Just got home from my first day of River Run, saw "NO WEAPONS" signs all over the place! Most of the festivities happen in the parking lots of the Casinos and every one I went through had their signs stating "NO WEAPONS" posted at every gate, entrance and sidewalk...

Though the signs clearly said (in smaller print) "No Knives, Clubs Firearms OR weapons of any kind" I did see lots of bikers with large knives on their belts walking around...

It appeared to me that the only people there who have weapons are those willing to carry them illegally, which is kind of ironic since they are probably not the kind to observe other laws, like don't stab or shoot people... The kind of people that LAW ABIDING citizens like myself who want to carry for protection are trying to protect ourselves from!

Hmmm they have always had the signs except I always assumed it pertained to the hotels. There have always been colors weapons (flashlights, hammers, knives etc) outside. Hell half the venders are selling knives and bullwhips. Well I think I will be locking my sideiron in my saddle bag before I Get into town and strap it back on when I leave. May even leave my holster on and see what happens. Wish me luck!!

Those signs unless they are on public owned buildings carry no weight of law. So if you have your CCW carry away CC.

It is not confusing. Public owned means Gov owned. It is very simple. Wal Mart private biz, DMV public. It is better wording than some states. And is less restrictive, because the building then has to be posted or have metal detectors at each public entrance. Many public buildings do not. The Post Office falls under fed regs.

I was down there again today, had a blast, lots of great people watching lol... I took mental notes today of the "NO Weapons" signs. They were located on the entrances to all the fenced in vendor/concert areas. They were also at all the entrances to the Casinos (from the front parking lots and from the river walk)

On a side note I talked to some of the Casino security managers (the guys that are there all the time, not just during River Run) and all of that I talked to told me that the Casino has a NO Weapons policy all the time, not just during River Run. They basically told me that they do not allow concealed or open carry in their facility at any time! I specifically talked to guards at Harra's, The Aquarius, The River Front, The Golden Nugget and the Pioneer.

I don't frequent the casinos so I have never attempted to carry in any of them, does anyone else have experience at these casinos? I was wondering about OC in Casinos in Las Vegas too, do they allow it or not?

Before everyone jumps in with the "those signs don't make it illegal" I do understand that the sign doesn't change the law, it basically just gives them the right to have you trespassed off the property if they really want, no different (if I understand it correctly) than a "No shirt, No shoes, No Service" sign.
