Nothing there. Media blackout ? Perhapsan attemptto protect shooters and other ranges from becoming an epidemic of suicide by use of gun rentals.

Then there is the legal liability aspect as well, Badger guns had problems with straw purchases, shooters seems to have a problem with suicide by use of gun rentals.

aren't suicides generally kept quiet from the media unless unavoidable??? you hear about shootings in the news everyday, but rarely about suicides, and i guarantee there are suicides every single day.

as far as shooters "having a problem" with suicide by gun rental, i doubt that's really a problem to them. i've been searching the last couple days, and there are ALOT of ranges all across the country that have gun suicides.

suiciders (i know that's not the correct term) are kinda like criminals...if they want it bad enough, they'll find a way. i don't put any blame on guns or ranges.

I assume they are trying to keep it quiet for the family and for the place of business. And personally, I think that is best... I don't want to read about this in the paper, so I'm good with not reading about it anymore here either. I think it's best for everyone that way.

Nor do I, It's all in public perception as to whether shooters has a problem or not,Some suicide stories make it to print some don't. I could see a group wanting to have shooters shut down or at least aminimal 48 hour waiting period for gun rentals so back ground checks can be done.

To the family my prayers and thoughts are with them.

First off, I apologize to anybody who didn't want any further information about this.

The reason I am posting this is

1) for those who are curious (it is public info after all)

and

2) for anybody that may have known him, but didn't know his family and wouldn't be informed of his death from them.
I personally used to know a guy that I met through motorcycles and we went riding together. I had never met his family, and one day he didn't show up for a ride. I was worried and had a bad feeling, but had no way of getting a hold of his family. I ended up finding out by watching the news that he had died on his motorcycle.

so perhaps there are people here who knew him through the sport, but wouldn't find out any other way.

Its sad that this happens and I hope they dont stop renting firearms because of this. But Im sure that they will do something to make it harder for people to do this like 48 hour waits for handgun rentals. maybe have someone escorted while renting firearms till finished shooting. I dont think that will stop stuff like this from happening. Where there is a will there is a way. :(
