A compilation of OC stories

These are not great stories but are in fact true. Instead of posting each time something happened while I oc'd, I figured I would wait till I got a couple of them. I hope you are entertained!


I went to a CVS to get some tea and while I was shopping a mother and her young son came around the corner. The young boy between the age of 4 and 7 I would say, stopped and engaged me in conversation. He asked if I worked there. I replied with "no I am simply shopping". He then says, "well why do you have a gun?" Then being a little boy puts his arm out to try and grab it! I turn away and tell him that only grown ups should ever handle guns. Then we ended up talking for about 2-4 minutes about gun safety. You know how kids can be! The funny part is his mother never said a word the WHOLE time and was completely unaware of what was happening. :banghead:

I work at our family business which is a machine shop and a couple doors down is a place called Nevada Defense or something here in Henderson. Well they work or manufacture guns but I have yet to have some time to go over and speak with them. They all OC when I see them walk by. Anyways I went to go check our mailbox and right in front of their shop is 2 police cars with a man handcuffed on the curb. They are on my strong side and are kinda eye balling me. When I get to about 4 feet away from them I raised my hands and said "WHATEVER IT WAS, i DIDN'T DO IT!" in a laughing manner. They saw I was OC'ing and joked around a little bit. They never mentioned the gun and I got my mail. The way it is supposed to be.

I stopped by a fast food joint to grab a bite. I was Tommy burgers of off Saint Rose. The cashier made a comment on the gun and tried to barter me my .38 for a case of bugers! After answering some OC questions he had I informed him that he couldn't be a felon to do it. He stopped me mid sentence and said, "f@ck! o well, would have been cool to carry."

Now to yet another walmart scene! So as some of you may remember from previous post I never show my receipt at the door. I could write a whole book at the reactions I get just for doing that.

As I was walking out I get the usual "sir.....sir.....sir!..SIR..SIR I NEED TO SEE YOUR RECEIPT! I wasn't in the mood that day because there was a line forming just to get out. There are 2 sets of doors. As I'm about to exit the 2nd door a Henderson cop enters, my strong side. Looks me in the eye, looks at the gun, then looks at the guy trying to flag me down to show my receipt! OMG now I know for certain there is going to be a scene! This is going to be the first time a Nevada cop is going to harass me! Instead he looked back at me, shook his head and let out a giggle.

Today at the El Dorado casino in Henderson I went to grab lunch. It is near my shop and you can get food for sooooo cheap. Well I OC'd and went to the diner. While I am waiting for my food I notice a suit security guy kinda walking around the diner trying really really hard not to make eye contact with me. I turn around after a minute or two after I lose sight of him and sure enough there he is pretending not to notice me. Well he walked away. About 5 minutes goes by and the waitress brings me my hamburger. I just got done with my first bite when an older security guard approaches me.
He ask if I am a LEO. I replied with "No sir" He then said that carrying a gun in the open was against the law. The people I was at lunch with started laughing because they listen to me preach about OC all the time and they know it is legal. From their reaction the security guard went directly to the "private property" speech. I said, "dude if you are going to kick me out, will you at least let me finish my burger?" He looked at me for a good minute before answering. He then looked at the younger ninja suit peaking at the situation from behind the fake flower pot and replied, " you know what? Go ahead and finish eating, take your time, and don't worry about it, I will just inform the rest of the staff that you are armed."

After lunch I got up, walked slowly to the door. Figured I would get a little testy! I put in 5 bucks in one of those penny machines that aren't really pennies. You know the ones, that have to play like 100 lines! Jesus! I looked around for security and they never came.

These stories are just a few I have got while I OC here in Nevada. I know that there are cases where I should have handled things differently. I am a very social person so when I read someones body language reacting to the sight of my gun I usually engage them in conversation by simply saying "hi" and giving a warm smile. Almost every time they asks a question or two about OC, for or against.

The shop close to you is Henderson Defense Ind. Great guys. Great guns. They sell ammo and used guns as well.

Heh, I do the same thing. I always just politely smile and say no thank you as I keep walking. Once I've paid, it's my property, no longer subject to inspection by the store it used to belong to.

+1 for that!!! It's different at Costco, which requires you to subject to the receipt check as part of their Membership Contract... But when a regular store just wants to look in my bag I get pissed. Some times I'll notice them eyeballing me from the door as I pay and then they'll ask to see the receipt. I call them on it every time.

Interesting to hear that you got a reaction when you OC'd at Tommy's, I'm glad it was a good one. My buddies and I have a habit of eating there after every time we shoot. I've probably OC'd there a dozen or so times.

And speaking of Walmart, when I was 16 the "bag checker" by the door heard the door alarm go off a few seconds before I got to his post. As I approached him, he informed me that I set it off, even though I was no where near the door. :what: I refused the search at first but he was very persistent, so I caved and showed him my bag and my receipt. After he had accounted for all items in the bag, he then walked to the the door alarm and passed the bag through alarm and amazingly it didn't sound. :shock: I thought I was clear, but he stood there with MY BAG and insisted that I had stolen items in my hidden pockets. Needless to say, I demanded to see a manager and he promptly gave me back my bag. The best part was that if I did have stolen items in my pockets the alarm would have sounded when I walked out the door.

Glad to see some other people don't show their receipts.

I'm not sure if if was costco or sams club but I have my whole family refusing searches. In Kalifornia I went and got the membership form you use to sign up and it clearly stated that "They recommend you show your receipt" or something along those lines. It did not state that you have to as part of your membership. I usually recite the 4th to the checkers and 99% of them look dumbfounded.



The best walmart reaction was when my little sister refused the search and after being chased down, told the older lady that she was protected by the 4th the lady said "the constitution doesn't mean anything here, I can only go by walmart policy."

thats great, and i dont know so i cant say for sure but a little more research that you could possibly file suit against a store for making accusations about theft when you have not stolen anything. The only place I have ever bothered to show my receipt is at costco and frys.

My wife and Iwere walking out of Wally World one day, open carry of course, and a little old lady told me that I had to show my receipt. Without stopping Itold her no, and kept walking. She chased us to the outer door yelling that she was going to call the cops, to which my wife answered, You don't have to, there's one right there. Yep he was parked right outside the door. She retreated back to the safety of her normal position in the inner doorway. By the way, because of this and other issues, like the way they treat their employees, I refuse to shop there. They should have a sign above the door, "Wallmart, made in China."

UPDATE FROM THE ELDORADO!!!!!


I went back there today to get some lunch. Wasn't my choice of spots but we went anyways. I left my gun at work because I was in the middle of cleaning it. After lunch I spoke with the security guard who approached me last time I was there. I asked him why it was a big deal that I open carried. He told me the following story...


The floor supervisor freaked out and called security on me. When security approached me they said to take my time and finish lunch. He then told the supervisor what happened. The supervisor freaked out and told security to call the Henderson police. He called up and Henderson police and they informed him that I was not doing anything illegal and that open carry is legal. He informed the supervisor of this fact which pissed him off then proceeded to make the staff dig through the gaming commission rule book to see if I violated any of their rules too!!! Of course they found nothing. The bad news is they just ordered new signs stating that no firearms are allowed inside!!!

Unfortunately they were forced into installing the signs...Of corse now we cant even CC in that place with the signs in place.....

WRONG. The signs in a pvt place carry ZERO force of law in NV. CC carry away if you wish but a place that posts gets no biz of mine because they just put a open invite to robbers etc.

I do not have issues when I OC at Costco. I'm sure they notice.
