I'm a Virginia resident with a CHP. I know the new law allows concealed carry in national parks as long as you abide by state laws in which the park is located. I'd like to open carry to exercise my rights. Can I do so in the Virginia national parks?

    Welcome to OCDO.

The word is that carry in National Parks is based on the state law. As such, OC in (or is it along?) the Blue Ridge Parkway is legal, lawful and permitted.

Be sure to park in designated areas only, Walk facing traffic - even if it makes it harder for them to see you are OCing. Remember, his name is Smokey Bear, not Smokey the Bear.

Skidmark (love the name, I use it often towards my son, :-)

Thanks for the confirmation, I figured as much but could tell from reading the NPI website. I had a doubt in my mind because I seem to recall a an email from the VCDL (for which I'm a member) asking us to comment on the rule asking for OC as well. Have a good one!

You're thinking of State Forests I believe. That's still a question mark.

It gets even better if you know where his forum avatar originates.
    Why open carry? Because 1911 > 911.

I've been here the better part of two years now, and I don't know, but I will admit, it kind of scares me a little....

OK. Once more, for the unknowing.

During the time I was employed I had the unnerving habit of asking impertinent questions that made people literally stop in their tracks. As many of the policy-issue meetings I was summonsed to included walks from one office or meeting room to another, very often we were in the hallway when I posed my question. One of the Deputy Directors accused me of being responsible for causing the senior management to lay skidmarks on the flooring.

Yeah, what you were thinking sounds way better, but unfortunately for you it just aint so.

    stay safe.
