Why the SW99, why not the P99? Honest question. Not trying deride your choice, the SW99 from what I hear is an excellent weapon. I am just unsure of the difference.

Well, when I was first introduced to the SW99, I was handed the consumer version...non DAO, with a decocker on the left side. Intrigued by what I thought was a great similarity to Gaston Glock's weapon, I tried it. I loved it, and needed to have one immediately. I bought it, carried it, trained with it, and eventually utilized it in service. One day, it met with unfortunate circumstances and we were no longer together. I hadn't then, nor have I had to date, any experience with the P99, although I hear great things. I need to go and shoot one of the variants.

The LEO SW99OL was introduced later as DAO...without that decocker. I was offered an opportunity to test one and I'm sure you know what happened after that. The trigger pull is clean and the break is crisp. Short sere reset. Beautiful ergonomics. Sights are straight and the rear aperture is wide (for the width of the firearm). Nice balance, I like the weight.

I look forward to owning another Glock (owned one before), an HK and a S&W MP15MOE rifle when the times are right. The SW99OL will remain my primary until it no longer functions. She continues to serve me well.

I felt the same way about the P99.

When I was introduced to it, it was back in late 05. I was in college and it was in the form of a very well detailed airsoft replica that belonged to one of my roommates. I wasn't crazy about it at first, but was drawn to it because of how true to a real gun it was. Over time I started using it during our little airsoft battles and it began to really grow on me. By the end of the year, I really really liked it. Because of that, my roommate gave it to me for a graduation gift. Over the years I discovered that it was a replica(I didn't know while in college), as I researched the real deal I read a lot of great reviews. So when I could finally afford to purchase a gun, I knew exactly what I wanted and I just had to have one. At first I didn't think I was going to be able to get one because they're all very expensive. Then recently I discovered a special deal at Cabela's where it would cost $700 and some change with tax and you'd get a $150 giftcard. As if that wasn't enough, it was manufactured on my birthday, which has always held quite a bit of significance to me. So I pounced. Put it on layaway and will hopefully be getting it out Friday or Saturday.:monkey

Whaaat? Manufactured on your birthday!? That right there is a sign. You need to pick that weapon up the moment it is ready for release. Which variant is it? How far away is the dealership from your house? Will you EDC it immediately? What will you feed it? So many questions. And happy birthday to both of you?

Welll, I don't that it was manufactured on my birthday. But the date on the sealed package was August 15th, which is my Birthday. I saw it at Cabela's on the 23rd, they had just gotten them in, didn't even have a chance to put any on display yet. I couldn't afford to purchase it right then, so I put it on layaway. I too felt that it was a sign from the gun gods. I will most definitely be getting it the moment I have enough money.

I do plan to EDC it, but first I will need to get my CHL. That's not too big of a problem for the immediate future, though. Only time I leave the house is to go to work, which has a strict no weapons policy and they do pocket checks(for stolen items, but there just isn't a way to conceal it and they not find out). I can carry in the car and with luck I'll be visiting my brother in Kansas next month. Kansas has license free open carry. That will be awesome.:monkey

I have a P99, its a beautiful pistol in form and function. Its probably the most accurate and precise pistol I've fired.

See, I think that of the SW99OL. I can't say, though, in my experience shooting weapons, that I've ever fired something that couldn't be accurate without proper adjustment. I had to adjust the front sight on Leann before I could really do what I wanted with her. I guess they all need their tweaks.

well some arms have no adjustment... but the precision of the P99 and the comfy fit were the impressive things because as you say accuracy is adjustable.
