I am new to this site, just joined a couple days ago and I see most people are on the same page as myself. My CCW permit is about to arrive any day now and I'm starting to be like a kid at Christmas time. I hope that when my permit arrives there are some laws/regulations Ican read thatI haveto obey. I've been doing some research on wether we can OC in IN. Personally I will CC just because I would like to have the element of suprise, but my dress code for work is business casual and the concealed holster I'm looking at is one of those "inside the waistband" types. Which still shows the grip of the gun. From what I've read the OC is in a "grey area" I have never seen anyone in Lafayette other than a cop sporting the OCwith their pistol.
One other item that mad me scratch my head about the CCW permit in IN was that it's kind of easy to get. I'm originally from MI where you have to do all the paperwork, fingerprints and take a class to show you have the know-how on how to properly handle a firearm. My friend in AZ says you have to do that as well astaking a shooting test. All I had to do was go to the police station fill out the paperwork get fingerprinted and wait. You then get a letter from the local police if you got accepted or not. I was told the local PD always rejects the 1st attempt. Well, they didn't on mine, the police cheif said I was granted my permit because it was my 2nd ammendment right. Awesome!
Last item, (sorry for the long post, work is slow today) Does anyone know where I could take a rifle and do 100+yd shots? I know hunting deer with a rifle is a no-can-do here so I understand why there aren't many rifle ranges. I want to buy a .223 but if I've got no where to shoot it, there's no point in having one.
