Having a disagreement with a friend of mine. Can anyone tell me where to find the MCL about michigan drivers license. Is it a right or a privlage? We got into this over me telling him that it is a right to carry, it went to drivers license and well....

I don't have a cite, but a dl is a privledge, no a right, rights are defined by the bill of rights.

also I can't read the forum you posted as I am not a member

agree, a right to travel, but no right to drive. Well, I guess you do have a right to drive, as long as you keep your driving to your own property, or perhaps (?) as long as you don't drive on a public road.

I would consider driving a right up until you do it in a way that negatively effects others, but the state doesn't.

When I took drivers training years ago, our instructor told us that a DL is a privilege and not a right.

According to the Statist and the fact we allow it, it is a privilege but it is a natural right to me as long as you are not violating someone else's like sevenplusone stated.

What is a "right" and what is a "privilege"?

    Very easy answer...

Regardless of the activity or thing........ if you have to have to ask permission, like qualify for a license (drivers license or concealed pistol license for example), then it is a privilege.

And a "privilege"... unlike a "right"... can have the permission removed and the "privilege" can no longer be engaged in.
Gun control isn't about the gun at all.... for those who want gun control it is all about their own fragile egos, their own lack of self esteem, their own inner fears, and most importantly... their own desire to dominate others. And an openly carried gun is a slap in the face to all of those things.
