Dear Sir,
First of all I would like to thank you for your service and your fellow officers. You and your department are providing a service which I am sure in the most part is unappreciated. I for one appreciate what you do. You and your departmenthave decided to put your life on the line for the citizens of O' Fallon and this is something that should never be taken lightly.
On the issue of the right to open carry in the city of O'fallon.....the way I understand is that as long as I have a valid CCW permit it is legal.
I would like your interpretation of the law.
With all the press and such on this recent issue, you may have had many request on this subject and for that I am sorry. I would just like to have a verification.
Thanks for your time
Response....
Sir,
The city of O’Fallon has adopted RSMO 571.101 to 571.121 as the standard for City Ordinance 215.250 detailing concealed carry. Even though the State Statute allows open carry, it is not recommended. By your heartfelt comments and respect for the police, I’m sure you can understand the alarm an open weapon could cause and the number of times law enforcement would be called to determine if lawful of illegal activity was taking place.

Dear Sir,
I would like to thank you for your response on the matter, but you have not exactly answered the question. If you would clarify I would greatly appreciate it.
In the City of O'fallon, is it required to have a CCW in order to open carry?
I understand your concerns about the issue and will take it under advisement, I would just like to know if this is your understanding of the law.
I am not asking for legal advice], I am asking if I am reading the ordinance correctly.
Again, thank you for your time and understanding.
