This is old news and I know the guy getting beaten is a dope dealer but there is no excuse for what they did to this man.

I included several links since some of the links inside these pages don't work anymore. The bottom link is where you can actually download the audio recording just make sure you scroll to the bottom of the page for the actual audio file download. The Federal Courts only allowed the first 39 minutes of over 2 HOURS of the beating and abuse to be released to the public. The first 39 minutes is horrible for anyone to have to go through in this country or any other country. Can you imagine what the rest of the audio must sound like?

I hope no one on this forum thinks this is "OK" because this guy was a drug dealer.

I had to laugh at that one Doug. I certainly know what you are referring to.

Here is an article on the sentences these five Gestapo agents received:

I wish the tape recorder had a two hour capability. They did quite a bit more to this illiterate drug dealer than is recorded. All five of these ex cops are in federal prison now.

Don't forget Mineo and Louima's abuse - and they didn't have recorders in them those days.

But we're not supposed to speak ill of Law EnFORCEment Officers, here called 'bashing'.

5) While you may disagree strongly with another poster based upon their opinion, we will NOT tolerate any personal attacks or general bashing of groups of people based upon race, religion, sex, or choice of occupation (e.g., being a law enforcement officer).

No, not that story but, yes, the history.

Please, unless there is a particular salutary goal, let this thread end.

The only goal my friend is for all of us to be careful and protect ourselves against those who would see us not be allowed to exercise our right(s). I wasn't trying to "bash" anyone.

Earlier today I read a column about videotaping public officials and how some states have passed laws prohibiting the recording of ONLY the police which also includes taking photos. From that article it lead to the one I posted above. I was shocked when I read it and then listened to the audio recording. I cannot fathom why an honest politician would think of passing a law to prevent us from recording the police in this country when they are in the performance of their duties (ie..on duty). But it is happening all over the country and that is a very bad thing.

I will heed your advice and not participate in any more posts for this topic. :?

I don't carry a voice recorder because the judge and jury will believe my word over that of a cop.

I'm being paranoid again, aren't I.:uhoh:

I like mine. Used it twice so far. As it happens, I did not need it because of the consensual nature of the conversations, both with Police Chiefs. Nice to know it works though.
