Police @ Get Some Guns and Ammo!

So, I am pulling into the Parking lot with 2 NRA Basic Pistol students in my car, and I see a patrol car with his lights on. I think he got someone crossing the double yellow lines?

Then I see a plains clothes cop with those white cover things over his shoes.:shock:

4 other cop cars there, thenone cop coming out the side range door. OH no :uhoh:what happened here? They let us in to see some guns, but the range was closed for the night. Nothing in the news yet, but I found out what happen but rather not say until it comes out in the news. It is out a women killed her self. Sad day.

I am glad we did not come earlier in the day and was there went it went down.

Murray » A woman in her early 20s died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Get Some Guns and Ammo firing range Wednesday evening.
It appears to have been a suicide, said Detective Aaron Jones of the Murray Police Department. The woman was alone at the firing range, located at 6651 S. State Street.

How often do people commit suicide at gun ranges? The same thing just happened at Doug's a couple of months ago...

One is too many, I have a lot of fun at this range with my students, and when I go thereto practice. I must have been in the same lane when I went there Friday, there was what appeared to be blood on the carboard holder 2 dots? Was it a sick joke or was it over looked by the clean up crew, I also saw what looked like blood on the garbage can lid?

Oh can someone think that all out in advance, she even had to read and answer the question do you have suicidial thoughts? It sadden me to thick someone would do something so sad in a place I have fun at!

Any idea if it was lane 9? Today I was shooting in lane 8, and noticed that there was a bullet hole in theglass dividers between the lanes going from lane 9 into lane 10... Or maybe that happened in the past couple of days? If it was recently, I'm hoping and guessing that nobody was in lane 10... The bullet hole was angled in a way that it would almost certainly hit the person in lane 10... I asked one of the guys that worked there about the bullet hole, and he said "yeah, someone had an accident", I asked him what happened, and he just said again, "someone had an accident"...

I wonder how often people "accidentally" get shot at shooting ranges by some idiot not keeping his/her gun pointed down range... heck, today I had someone sweep me across the chestwith anAR-15... Heck, how hard is it to keep the muzzle pointed at the ground when you're walking around with it...?

I was there 2 days after the "accident" occurred to finish my class. We were in lane #2 and I saw blood smeared on the Cardboard Target Hanger, and the trash can had a blood drop on it? Bad clean up I thought, then it could have been someone cut their finger? So I thought it was lane #2, but then I was shooting in lane 10 last week and I saw what you saw, and I think the "accident" happened in lane #10 but i am not a specialist on bullet impact on glass but it either happened on #9 or #10. The employee would have said , "Some dumbass" had a negligent discharged so be extra careful! I was glad to see that the glass will stop a bullet like it did, because that "chip" in the glass is just about at my temple on my head.

Plus, one day a busty gal next to me had great trigger discipline, but when hot brass goes down the shirt, watch out, that girl muzzle flashed me with a hot firearm, and her finger was in the trigger guard. I did one of those famous James Brown dance moves or power slide away from that muzzle and yelled something I can not remember what it was but I had tunnel vision and only saw the muzzle of that barrel, and i had to get away fast.
The Glass partition is bullet proof, which is comforting. Be aware of the people shooting next to you at the range or in the desert, take a few moments to watch how they handle their firearms.

I've heard stories about suicides in the wake of the stock market crash that marked the beginning of the Great Depression. We've all seen "It's a Great Life" where the Bill Baily figures he and his family are better off with him dead and them getting a modest life insurance policy. Times are tough. And for a lot of people it is clear that there will have to be some changes in lifestyle...not just for a few months, but permanently. I think the days of easily living beyond our means year in and year out are over.

It is tragic that someone feels suicide is the best or only option however. The American dream is alive and times can and will improve.

Plus, it doesn't do us any good to have gun ranges become hot spots for suicide.

If someone kills themselves in their home or up in the mountains how often is that in the News? Perhaps, the media should not broadcast, "Hey, looking for an easy way to kill yourself go down to your local Gun range rent a gun and shoot yourself." I guess it is not as easy has one would think, this guy is still alive for now any aways.

Just thinking out loud here, what do the GSGA owners do, stop renting guns? Have a RSO stand next to the participate if they come in alone, rent a gun, ammo, eyes & ears? A happy couple, father, mother, and son maybe they should not be as concern? Or just rent guns,( big money maker) have them fill out the Release Waiver and just clean up after?

I am going there today with a student I better call up first and see if the range is opened. huh? It was open the day after thelast time.

There are around 17,000 suicides annually in the U.S. About 55-59% are with guns.

I don't know what the number is for suicides at gun ranges, but it is common.

That's, ironically, why the gun community (i.e., the gun ranges) has instituted various "gun control" efforts to profile customers and to deny them services. And the gun community (i.e., customers like you and me) go along with those "gun control" efforts. We accept them--because they make sense. "Gun control," under certain circumstances ..... makes sense.

So what if some lone guy, a non-NRA member, never before a customer,walks into a range in Denver with an out of state DL and is denied a rental gun and range time? Is he being denied his "right to bear arms?"

I don't think so. I support the range owner/operator's efforts at reasonable "gun control" efforts. He's just trying to limit liability and stay in business. And I want gun ranges to stay open so I can use them. I also don't want to make it too easy for some tortured sould to off himself with a gun. It's messy.

How about stop going out of business procedures, how about minimizing your faithful customers from seeing someone shoots their head off, how about an NRA Instructor taking students to shoot for the first time,from seeing that mess? Iown aindoor soccer business, and I would profile people all the time. Watching out for my good paying customers, and my bottom dollar and public image! One indoor place had a stabbing on Mexican night, but that exposure killed his business!

Common Sense my brother, I would rent the gun to the loner but have an employee stay inside the shooting range, sweeping up brass, emptying out Garbage cans, making repairs. Is that is "Gun Control?" That is looking out for your business interest, not GUN Control!


Same same range, Once a guy rented a .50 caliber rifle next to me and my students, and it misfired the guy renting the gun, extracted the unexpandedcartrigde a second after the misfire. I calming said to him after 30 seconds, next time you get a misfire wait 30 seconds before you take it out of the chamber. He said, Oh yeah, I forgot. Crap is going to happen but with some over sight, perhaps someone might think twice not to allow some loner, nervous looking guy to be the only shooter on the line to be in there by himself. An RSO walking around might stop the guy from doing it, which is one thing we will never know, will we?

2 days after the last "event" I saw the RSO get up from the check in/out counter go into the range and proceed to give this rich good looking women with her husband and their friends an :cuss:chewing for muzzle flashing people. The employee said, After this week safety is my top priority. My point made clear, and it has NOTHING to do with GUN Control! It has to do with creating discussion.

I saw that... kinda good, but annoying at the same time... I wonder if they will call my wife whenever I come in... I have a membership and go shooting at least once a week... It could get really annoying, especially if my wife doesn't answer her phone... :X

You are not a first time gun renter so you are good, no calls to the wife, watch the clip more closely from more information.

??? Am I missing something? All I heard was this:

The shooting range has also adopted a new policy. Anyone who comes in alone -- like all three victims did -- is required to provide the phone number of a friend, parent or spouse.
"We're going to call them and say, 'Is "John" in a good state to be shooting guns?'" Wallin says.

I would be coming in alone, so I was wondering if they would make that call or just say "hey, this guy is in here all the time, he's good"

Yes, I too have a Year membership there and shoot at least 2-3 times a month, and I have my own guns as I am sure you both have. Do you think they are going to ask to call my wife? I would think that policy is for first time customerswho are renting guns who are alone. Profiling sucks, but it is a very effective means to get things done. I do it all the time with almost everyone I meet.
