We are now running on a new, and hopefully much-improved, server. In addition we are also on new forum software. Any move entails a lot of technical details and I suspect we will encounter a few issues as the new server goes live. Please be patient with us. Ms. McCarthy has an interesting history.
Her husband was killed and her son was injured in the tragic and potentially avoidable commuter-train rampage of Colin Ferguson in 1993. Instead of fighting to allow New Yorkers to defend themselves against mindless violence, she began pushing harder for more restrictive gun laws that would further disarm law-abiding citizens, and leave them at the total mercy of deranged criminals. And she is personally against the Death Penalty. So we know that she doesn't really care about punishing criminals, but is more concerned with "feel-good" legislation, the appearance of being tough on crime, dismantling the Second Amendment and disarming law-abiding citizens.
She was a lifelong registered Republican before running for Congress, but changed her affiliation to run as a Democrat against Dan Frisa because she disagreed with his "No" vote on the 1996 "Assault Weapons" ban. So we know she's a turncoat for the political expediency of her career.
She voted for the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which some economists, including Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz, believe helped create the 2007 financial crisis. So we know that she isn't really concerned with helping honest hard-working citizens keep their hard earned wealth, she's more concerned with further lining the pockets of big banks and investment firms.
In 2006, she voted in support of a Republican resolution in support of the war. So we know that she's not against ALL guns, she just wants citizens to be unarmed. But in her mind, it's OK to send heavily armed troops and taxpayer-funded mercenaries to foreign nations to protect our oil interests.
In the 2009-2010 campaign cycle, she accepted $107,000 in contributions from the Finance, Insurance and Real Estate sectors, and another $38,700 from Lawyers and Lobbyists. So we know how her financial "bread is buttered".
Political Party Turncoat. Beholden to the Financial Sector. Pro-War. Anti-Self Defense. Anti Second Amendment.
Her record speaks for itself.
