Now this is a Mossberg model 88 pump 12 gauge and I want to make some modifications to it like putting on a pistol grip with a folding sock that can hold some more shells.

Is there any regulation on this sort of thing? I know that there is a list of of assault weapons that need to be registered, but if I do any of these changes would I be in possession of one?

    Thanks,
    Eddyys

I think it depends on were you live. California, DC, etc.
If you live anywhere else, you shouldn't have a problem. My shotguns all have a folding stock on them.

IANAL, but the only reg I am aware of is barrel length. Nothing under 18.5 w/o and NFA stamp, because it becomes aSBS. Check MD statute 4-203 or ask on www.mdshooters.com. lots of informed folks there.

This is why at least having your home state on your profile is of such benefit.
