I have an XDm 3.8, has 19 in mag and one in for a total of 20 rounds. This isn't an answer, just a comment. I would like to see an answer to this as well.

Thanks.

I am not aware of any round limits. There are a couple of guys who carry double mags and one in the gun. I'm sure some of the big hitters here will chime in and give you exacts. Glad that you've joined us here.

Well as a heads up I have made a event calendar at
nv.opencarry.org@gmail.com

If you search for the calendar thread you will see the address. You can add that calendar to get events scheduled. I look forward to meeting you at one of the events.

There've been a couple of polls on how many rounds folks carry.

The record was, I think, 78.

One in the pipe with a full mag, then 4 additional mags.

What a nut!

Seems like if you need more than 20 rounds to get a job done, you maybe want to think about not carrying a firearm. Should be enough to stop the problem or create some distance, but then you never know about the "them" coming to get you and you might have to givem everything you got, LOL.

I read a stat somewhere a few years ago saying the average gun fight went 2.1 rounds between the two people. Now, I know there are way too many variables and what if's, and I don't claim to know them, but though it was funny.

I carry 2 spare mags and 9 in the gun for 8+8+9(1911) for a total of 25. But, if a defensive shooting goes into the second mag....ya probably bit off more than you can chew.

When I OC I carry a Glock 17, one mag in the gun, and one extra mag.

When I CC, its my Glock 26 with two 10 round mags.

Lately I have been OCing and bringing my 26.

And I still bring an extra mag for all both guns.

So that's a total ok 54 rounds.

Over kill? Totally. Is there a reason? Sure.

Guns break. Even Glocks. Also, what if shit really hits the fan and I am with someone who isn't armed? Would rather have only yourself armed, or yourself and a friend arned?

That's a very unlikely situation, but it CAN happen.

So when you OC, with a G17, you carry an extra gun, a G26.

But you do not carry an extragun when you CC the G26?

If not, is that wise?

When the constitution was written the people were using single shot flint lock rifles and pestles. I don’t see anything in the constitution about carrying extra ammunition…
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.[/i]
Not one word about being loaded….

I don't see why its not. I am not big on the idea of CCing both a Glock 17 and 26. Honestly, its not comfortable for me to CC both.

What percentage of time do you OC? CC?

Just my 2 cents worth. Everyone who is carrying should at least have one extra mag. I've seen one LEO who carries at least 8 mags. I carry a Springfield XD Tactical in 45 ACP with 13+1, 13 & 13 or my Springfield XD 9mm with 19+1, 19 & 19. Mags do fail, and when tap rack bang don't work. Replace mag!! A good thing to practice out at the range. Another good idea is buy some dummy rounds. Have someone else load your mags. It's interesting to see how many people anticipate recoil. And it's a hard habit to break.

Pistol loaded with JHP, (15+1)
second mag 1 jacket, 2 HP round pattern (scare out and pop off load)
third mag 2 jacket, 1 HP round pattern, (car windshield load)

forth mag all Jacketed rounds hot loads. (SHTF WTFGO KMAGB load)
OR
BUG 2HP, J, 3HP, + 1 speed loader all HP for retreating very fast only.

Never know what sort of ammo you need in a gun fight.
And if you make it to 4th mag, you are in need of penetration.
Of course which mag to reload depends on what is going on.
Either way if you use up mag 1, you are needing something else,
or you have one big angry mob on your tail.
5th mag would be my AP, and non expanding brass rounds if it were legal....:what::cuss:

Hopefully going to a 4 mag 20+1 round this year, then I need to rethink load types
all over again. Probably 2 mags JHP, and 2 mags 2HP,1 Jacket, 2HP pattern.

For me I want enough on me to get to my nearest stash.
The farther you are removed from resupply the more you carry.
7 min miles + 20 sec between rounds = 21 rounds for 3 miles.

Besides there is nothing more priceless than burying the cops car hood under
a boatload of ammo when you just keep pulling out more of it from all over your body.
Wait, wait, I got more here. :uhoh:
