Legislation To Expand Gun Owners' Rights Passes Posted: 5:02 pm EDT April 28, 2010Updated: 5:29 pm EDT April 28, 2010
ATLANTA -- Licensed Georgia gun owners would be allowed to carry their firearms into parts of the world's busiest airport under a measure that was approved by state lawmakers. The legislation aims to build on a 2008 measure that allowed those with permits to carry firearms on mass transit. Atlanta officials quickly declared Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport a "gun-free zone" and federal judges upheld the ban in court. But the measure adopted by the House Tuesday by a 120-37 vote specifically allows gun owners to carry their weapons in areas of the airport not controlled by the federal government, such as terminals and parking lots.“SB 291 will dramatically improve law-abiding Georgian’s second amendment rights ,” said Representative Katie Dempsey, a Republican from Rome. “This legislation expands where licensed holders may lawfully carry their firearms and eases their license renewal process.”Channel 2 Action News does not have immediate reaction from opponents of the measure. The measure has already passed the Senate and now goes to Gov. Sonny Perdue for his consideration.

It seems like many other states are making steps to regain freedom/ America, if only Cali would join in...

I don't think this is even illegal in CA to begin with... anybody for airport open carry? (Not in the "secure" zone beyond the checkpoint, obviously.)

I open carried in the Phoenix airport once and nobody batted an eye... wonder how SFX would handle that...

Hey CA,

I think our point is that in Georgia and other states, freedoms are being enhanced while in our state the ruling class continue to limit the freedoms of the proletariat[suP]1[/suP].

Ah, life in the PRK!

IMHO!

[suP]1[/suP]Qualificatoin of terms: "the dictatorship of the proletariat denotes the transitional socialist State between the capitalist class society and the classless communist society. During the transition, the State can be nothing but the revolutionary dictatorship of the proletariat."

I know, our gubmint isn't that bad!!!

I walked through the terminal (non-secure area) to meet up with someone I was picking up at the airport. I wouldn't be willing to try this in any CA airport any time soon.
