As a gun owner and gun right's advocate, I was contacted by a new PBS
web/TV news magazine about doing a story. I agreed. It started off with an OpenCarry Litter pick-up on Route 7 under the Adopt-a-Highway program, followed by lunch at a Restaurant in Reston and then to a local shooting range with a NY Camera crew that have never fired a gun before. (They left with GUNS Save Lives Magnets, VCDL Magnets and GUNS Save Lives Safety Vests!) I even wore my VCDL T-shirt to the range. :-)

The next day the crew was at my house bright and early to watch my family
at breakfast. They interviewed my 12 year old daughter Brooke and then a 1
hour interview with me in my living room. Later that day they followed me to
get my haircut (one customer did not like my Open Carrying) and continued
to follow me to the store to pick up some more Tactical pants and getting
    fuel for my car.

Finally, they followed me while unarmed at the Second Amendment March in
    DC.

I will be on the new shows premiere on Friday, May 7th on PBS (check your
local listings for time and channel) I am told the piece will be 12-14
minutes and what they don't show will be available on the web.

    Thanks!

You'll have to post a link in case we miss it...

I hope they don't butcher it too bad. Did you get any sense of how it will be edited?

Are they going to send you a copy of the program for your records? I did a commercial in Texas back in the early 2000's, and the station actually gave me a copy...

I will record it myself.. I won't need them to send me a copy. Plsu, they said the entire interview (not the cut down version) might be online after the show.

From the preview it seems like they're implying that gun owners support gun control.

No...we don't. We support criminal control.

I support gun control - I have a gun, therefore, I have control. Gun control means using two hands!

I support government control. That is, government UNDER CONTROL.

Presently they are out of control on nearly all fronts and must be reined in or we are all doomed to suffer fates far worse that Greece or Iceland.

Yes, that may sound a bit OT, but our fundamental rights are being trampled by these buffoons, and when even those are not safe, nothing is.

I would really like to see the exact questions that that guy asked in his polls. If he only asked questions like "Should felons and crazy people be allowed to buy guns?" then of course it will look like a majority ofgun owners favor "common sense gun laws."

There's a fine line between "crazy" and "genius".

    It's called "success".

Had our founders not been successful in their bid for independence they would likely have been labeled "insane" by the British government and that's the "truth" we would be taught in Virginia today, under the watchful eye of Lord Cornwallis XI.

You could bet that we certainly wouldn't be open carrying, that's for sure.

For those of us in PWC that have (comcast) it airs @ 9pm on WETA channel 26.
If you think like a Statist, act like one, or back some, you've given up on freedom and have gone over to the dark side.
The easiest ex. but probably the most difficult to grasp for gun owners is that fool permission slip so many of you have, especially if you show it off with pride. You should recognize it as an embarrassment, an infringement, a travesty and an affront to a free person.

"...execute that right" when speaking about how folks go about keeping and bearing arms is a very choice play on words. I'm betting that 99.9999% of Americans do not use that phrasing, which has a very European flair to it - as in a non-native English speaker searching for the best word to express "carry out" or "live that lifestyle". however, as a native English speaker the word has a much different, harsh and legal connotation.

    stay safe.

I think felons and crazy people shouldn't be allowed in public.

And stop making everything felonies. They should be reserved for extreme violent crimes against others. Not carrying a gun onto unmarked property that the government thinks is a magical area that no crimes occur (schools, etc.).

Wow. Just watched "Need to Know".

All I can say is great job Ed!

Anything else I might say will be filled with expletives and things not appropriate for human ears.

    SLANT SLANT SLANT!

Did anyone notice the bogus and debunked information from the Kellerman study get spread as if it were gospel AGAIN?

How many times can Kellerman's methods get destroyed for being slanted and predetermined (He included suicides as a firearm used against the homeowner for Pete's sake! And that is just one instance out of many!)

Yet PBS states "studies have shown a firearm in the home is more likely to injure one of its residents" or some such.

    $%#^& ING ^*&^#%(&^&(ER &*^#*&amp#*&amp#ERS! Stupid &*#(*&amp#ING &^*)#(*ERS! DAMN MY EYES!

    Still spreading LIES!

Then they go and give Bloomberg three hours of air time at the end of his segment to spew his insanity. Yeah. This is an objective piece.

Even the tone of the entire segment seemed to lament the trend towards more freedom.

........."And people in Georgia can now carry firearms into airports."

Well holy hand grenades. The world is just going off the deep end, huh?

Ed came off as a well grounded voice of reason. Too bad PBS gave more camera time to the ignorant pleb in the hair salon that didn't even know that a 1911 is SAFER with the safety on.

    "Look! It's even cocked!"

    Moron.

Well, I guess I have to calm down. After all it is PBS. You think I'd learn not to expect anything involving firearms to get any fair coverage there. Yet, time after time, my hopes are dashed on the rocks. You think I'd learn.

Bloomberg for Pete's sake! One on one. In the studio. Yeah. If that doesn't SCREAM what slant PBS takes on firearms freedom.

"I was a cub scout as a kid. I got a marksmanship badge."

    PUKE! ..........^&^#()ING.....BARF!.......gawd.

Next time on PBS: More Ed and family....less all other morons.

......Although it was classic when the reporter asked Larry Pratt about 9/11!

Reporter: "So you're advocating a gunfight at 30,000 feet would have been an improvement on the situation?"

Larry Pratt: "It would have been an improvement onflying into an office building."

    Reporter: (pause).....Hmmmmmm (clueless stare)

Did anyone else LOL when Bloomberg said he didn't have any right to tell other states how to handle their gun laws?!

    BWHAHAHAHAH!
