I am sure some of you have seen this email passed around before, but for you who have not, enjoy...

WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

OLD VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.

The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, "It's Not Easy Being Green."

Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, "We shall Overcome." Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Nancy Pelosi & John Kerry exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.

Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients.

The ant loses the case.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

Our side is winning in the court of public opinion, state by state (AZ Constitutional carry), and the federal courts (Heller vs. DC, MacDonald hopefully next).

Our #1 threat, in my opinion, is complacency.

When you have the enemy on the run, you don't let them melt into the forest and regroup. You pursue and annihilate.

The deeper story.

A few well placed and ruthless business and political ants use every underhanded, dirty and ethically questionableaccounting trick in the book (and maybe a bit of hard work and brains) just like the noble ants of old to corner 90% of the available resources and power and pass it on to their family and friend ants and buy their ant buddies nice jobs in the ant government while somehow managing to convince the ants who actually do the grunt work that not only is this right and proper but that they too can attain power and wealth if they are only productive enough, never mind that the top ants have rigged the system against them and that organizing themselves into collective ant bargaining units or trying to work outside the established ant system is not just wrong but un-Antmerican and un-ChristiAnt.

No I don't want to live in a worker ant's paradise but It would be nice to see some of my fellow ants looking deeper into the guts of the ant nest thanthe next Faux News talking point.

You've got to admit though, that it's awful nice of theoligaAnts to let us think that anything we do or say has any real meaning any more. I can't wait until our benevolent ant overlords decide it's time to end the masquerade anddecree that a feudal system is what wereally need. After all, It's for their children.

It's too bad that when therevolution starts it's not gonna be therobber baronants that get it in the neck.

Bill Gates is one of the wealthiest men on the planet. He was not born with a silver spoon, was not "well placed" and in fact started out as an obscure software designer for big, powerful IBM. He developed Microsoft Disc Operating System (MS/DOS). But while they were busy counting their money, the big boys neglected to purchase the patent rights. Gates took his ball, went home and founded Microsoft Corporation.

The thieves and cheats will get theirs in the end. Meanwhile they are welcome to ride around in my taxicab and lubricate my palm with some of that loot.

Speaking of taxis and political power, the drivers here in Alexandria have been battling City Hall forever being sick of being pushed around as politicians give the cab ccompany owners what they want while we get screwed. I have repeatedly told them that strikes and demonstrations do not work, because nobody gives a damn about cab drivers. But they did not listen to me until I forced City Hall to repeal a particularly onerous regulation by simply pointing out that the regulation violated City law. Now I am telling them that they should say that if the Council wants to eff with our jobs, we will eff with theirs. Over 700 drivers live in the City and are registered voters, with family and friends who also vote. This could translate into 10,000-15.000 votes to throw their butts out and replace them with Republicans. And believe me word has gotten to the Council. Their attitude is changing. And it had better.

Only if you sit on your duff and grump instead of using the brains talent and brawn God gave you does your voice mean nothing. Fatti Maschi, Parole Femine.
