Senate terrorism hearing gives gun grabbers propaganda forum

This includes a link to today's testimony:

Witnesses Panel 1 Panel 2
  • Daniel D. Roberts [view testimony]
Assistant Director, Criminal Justice Information Services Division, Federal Bureau of Investigation
    U.S. Department of Justice
  • Eileen R. Larence [view testimony]
    Director, Homeland Security and Justice
    U.S. Government Accountability Office
  • Sandy Jo MacArthur [view testimony]
Assistant Chief, Office of Administrative Services
    Los Angeles Police Department
  • Aaron Titus [view testimony]
    Privacy Director
    Liberty Coalition
Only the last witness, Aaron Titus of the Liberty Coalition, spoke on behalf of freedom-loving Americans:
Today's hearing examines two bills, S.1317 "Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009" and S.2820, "Preserving Records of Terrorists & Criminal Transactions Act of 2009" ("PROTECT Act of 2009"). In reality, these two bills should be re-named the "Gun Owners Are Probably Terrorists Act," and the "National Firearm Registry Act," respectively. Collectively these bills strip citizens of their enumerated Constitutional Right to Bear Arms without any meaningful due process, and create a national firearms registry. The same Constitutional Due Process provided by the 5th and 14th Amendments that prevents Congress from incarcerating a citizen based on mere suspicion also prevents Congress from revoking a citizen's Second Amendment right to bear arms. For that and other reasons, the Liberty Coalition opposes these bills.

My head started hurting after the first few sentences. I pushed on, in spite of the pain, to the bitter end. It was not worth the effort.

If the Watch List is so darned effective, tell me why Teddy Kennedy's name is still on it. I heard rumors he's not going to be flying anywhere anymore.

The life of the anti's must be so very empty. Everything they talk about is what could happen if inconceivable evil event numbers 1 through infinity were all to coalescein the same place.

Skid, I have heard it said elsewhere on the forums here that liberals (and most antis IMO) spew what they want the world to be while those on the other end view the world as it IS.

Darthmord (and everyone else),

Yes, I've heard/read that and see no evidence to the contrary - in the general sense.

I was just a little more depressed and irritated and peeved than usual with the clap-trap being spewed.

Earlier the Big Brown Box of Joy (actually FedEx, not UPS) returned a toy that had gone to be fixed. Serenity reigns once more over Casa Skidmark.

stay safe.

This column hurt my head too, Skidmark: couldn't resist the temptation to share the pain.

I don't look at the threat asinvolving "inconceivable evil events" though: A terroristbought an AK clone from the gun shop I used to work in, and shot up a line of cars near CIA headquarters in the 1990s.

I don't believe that the terrorist gap bill can be reconciled with the 5th Amend. Due Process Clause, and so I am agin' it.

Still, if we lose some of the effectiveness we have recently been showing at getting 'em over there, we could be faced with a Mumbai situation over here, with the means purchased straightforwardly over our favorite tables and counters.

No way to avoid it -- and that is a shame.

It is a mistake to think of these people as only anti-gun.... these people are anti-Liberty. Their goal is to control everyone by any means they can establish. Why do you think they have gone to such great lengths to change the meaning of the word "regulate" from its original meaning of keeping something maintained or functioning properly to their new Orwellian meaning of "to completely control"?!? These people want to control every aspect of our lives... and they will use every single avenue at their disposal to come after all our rights. Granted I understand that this site is about Open Carry... however, these evil people have been using many different forms of trickery to conveniently ignore the Constitution... most of these evil people have nothing but contempt for the Founders and so they come up with sniveling and underhanded ways to undermine our Constitution like the whole concept of "incorporation".... that was NEVER something that was even allowed by the Constitution... the Consitution is a contract and all States that willingly signed on to it are bound by it.... these same morons claim the Constitution only pertains to the Federal Government and the States can do anything they want.... That's also complete garbage. In the Constitution, if it does not directly address the Federal governments powers... like in our First Amendment or in Article 4 of the Constitution where it is directly addressing the States and what type of government they will have.... States cannot just willy nilly decide they want a Socialist government... that is not allowed under the US Constitution... and individual Liberty is protected over all else in the Constitution... so do not for one second let Liberals or Progressives tell you otherwise... they just want to control those they disagree with...
