Oklahoma could become 44th 'open carry' state
    By Stateline Staff

Oklahoma legislators have sent Governor Brad Henry a bill that would make the state the 44th to allow residents with concealed-weapons permits to carry their firearms openly in public. But the Democratic governor hasn’t decided whether he will sign or veto the measure . . .

Open-carry supporters believe that allowing people to carry guns openly actually deters would-be criminals. “This legislation should actually reduce the chance of violence,” state Representative Rex Duncan, the author of the bill, told the World. “A criminal is far less likely to attack once he sees a citizen is armed.”

The open-carry movement has generated plenty of attention in recent months . . .

HB3354 will actually hit Governor Henry's desk tomorrow, May 11. I called Representative Duncan's office and his assistant confirmed that anotice was served to reconsider.

She said this is common for the bill's author to do in order to retain control of the bill.

I don't understand all the procedural niceties, but I DO understand that tomorrow is the day.
