Today a friend of mine was open carrying in costco when a store supervisor came up to her and asked her to cover her weapon. My friend did as she was asked since she was in the middle of a few weeks worth of shopping and she is NOT one to make a scene.
Now i have carried in this Costco many many times and it was never an issue, so i called and spoke to the same person (chrissy) who talked to my friend.... she was very nice and said that my friend did infact immediately cover her weapon. During my conversation with Chrissy she quoted from a memo that she said Costco sent out in March, stating that they were a private club, they could make the rules that pertained to the club and that only Law enforcement officers could carry firearms in Costco.
i asked for a copy of the memo and after asking the warehouse manager i was told that it would not be available. i asked if they had posted this policy at the entrances and was told that they were not required to.
I asked if there was a customer complaint and i was told that a concerned customer had spoke to the manager.
So, as i understand it , Today..... Costco has a "NO FIREARMS" policy in effect, No one is allowed to see the memo, It is NOT posted and they do NOT provide armed security to protect us.
i shall be rethinking where i spend my food dollar.
