So today in bass pro of blue springs I'm asked to leave or pit a trigger lock on my glock. Hell no, again!

I told them I'm allowed to just like the concealed carriers are.

I'm calling corporate today, I'm tired of being discriminated against for not concealing.

No one complained by the way. No other employees said a thing just some dickhead security guard. Who is guarding the lives of the customers without any lethal force to use against a crazy employee who just got fired.

I have been in Bass Pro in indep. and never had an issue. the only time I let them put a lock on my wepon is when I plan on going to there range. I understand that is there policy so I do it. yet when Iam just browsing or shoping I will not nor would I not put a lock on it. If they were to ask mr to leave I would but I would also make a complaint due the fact of the very nature of what they promote to buy and yet tey have no policy on the doors. GO GET'M. Let us know what comes of it. Soup.

I have oc there tons! If I were going to the range I would not unholster my defense weapon. I'm ok with that. Odd but understandable, it should only be drawn in a defense situation. That's why I have it. I'm filing a formal complaint tues or wed...

Hmm, that's odd. I've OC'd in bass pro before. In fact I'm pretty sure somewhere around here there is a letter from their CEO floating around that finally put the issue to rest and said they were going to follow state laws.

Bass Pro. Inc. Clarifies Policy – Open Carry Welcome!

OpenCarry.org (OCDO) is pleased to announce that Bass Pro Inc. advised OCDO co-founder Mike Stollenwerk by telephone today that open carry of holstered handguns is as welcome as concealed carry provided all federal and state laws are followed.

After being contacted by OpenCarry.org (and apparently some of our almost 20,000 some thousand members) about sporadic inconsistent treatment of open carriers at some Bass Pro shops, Bass Pro’s Manager of Communications Larry L. Whiteley asked OCDO co-founder Mike Stollenwerk for more background information and some time to straighten things out.

Stollenwerk advised Whitely two weeks ago that open carry is legal in most states, usually without a permit, and that Sportsmens’ Warehouse and Cabelas have adopted clear corporate policies welcoming open carriers in their stores just as they do concealed carriers. Further Stollenwerk noted, it’s better to adopt one clear corporate policy than allow individual employees make up store rules or give legal advice to customers, i.e., the proverbial but well meaning, “psst, hey, you gotta cover that up, it’s the law” kind of thing, which can get gun owners in trouble for breaking the law and unlawfully concealing (e.g., in Wisconsin where no permit to conceal is even issued).

Well today Mr. Whiteley called and confirmed that Bass Pro’s policy is and “always was” to be to respect lawful customer gun carry, concealed or open, and that steps the following steps are being taken to ensure this policy is understood by all managers and employees, including production and distribution of training videos as well re-drafting of signage pertaining to guns.

OpenCarry.org is pleased that Bass Pro. joins both Sportsmens’ Warehouse and Cabelas in clarifying to OpenCarry.org that open carry is welcome in their stores as a matter of corporate policy.

I just spoke with JD Hursh the regional support coordinator after being rudely escorted out of the building. He appoligised dearly after "fixing" the problem. So we went back in. Same thing, they even said that if you conceal and carry you must have a trigger lock!!!

I called him back and told him. He said he'd call the store directly and fix my problem after I said I might move my business to a more gun friendly store such as cabelas. He was very sincere and apologetic. He said it is allowed and we haven't done anything wrong. and now I am sitting out front waiting for his phone call.

I was shaking I was so pissed and felt humiliated and discriminated against! They got an earfull!

That's where I stand now. Will keep updated.

Huh? What was phone calls and what was done directly?

If you went in to discuss their objection to OC while OC'ing I could have told ya that wasn't going to work.

Good. This is one of the reasons I oc. To slowly inform the world of it's legalities and existence. Not to fight with people about it, but to slowly show people the rights they are leaving behind in this country

Gee, sounds like you've read Col. Grossman's books or sat through one of his seminars. Their corporate policy was posted on an open website, Shooter or Doc may find it before I do and post it up for you. BPS policy clearly honors CC and OC, provided it's legal where you are.

Scratch that, I found it on Missouricarry.com. Double scratch that, it's posted in the response before mine, I just didn't read that far.

We shouldn't have to carry company policy and re-educate employees like we tend to have to with LEOs. When you complain to corporate, be professional and polite...as much as possible. See if they will make the effort to have the policy POSTED at the security check-in stations from now on.

Two years ago this information did not exist.
