lol, that's a good one.

This is from TODAY, May 15 2010:
"The controversial community group ACORN did not formally dissolve as it said it would and might reorganize under federal bankruptcy laws, its lawyers said in a filing in a pending federal lawsuit in Pittsburgh."

And yes, while they may not formally have anything to do with the census these thugs are a big part of it.

They changed the name to protect/hide their image.

The new name is Community Organizations International.

They may disband yet and reorganize more loosely as individual state groups, but they are the same people, same goals, same methods - make no mistake about that.

All due respect folks!

I am more concerned with the BP, Exxon, Halliburton, BlackWater-Xe entity's in the world than a small fry like Acorn-Community Organization International. Xe gets about $1200 a dayper "guard" per day from us taxpayers. Halliburton just received a $568 million dollar "no-bid" contract in May. Please folks don't fall for the distraction game. Yes, Acorn had/has issues but compared to the big boys they are just a speck of sand in the big picture.

And this proves that you know absolutely nothing or at least very little about what groups like Xe and "Halliburton" do for this country.

I worked for KBR in Iraq for a year and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. They make the soldier's lives much more pleasant while deployed to a shitty environment. Xe does security jobs for the State Department among other things over there. Neither organization takes money to further some bullshit political agenda that is anathema to the principles that this country was founded upon, something that can not be said about ACORN.

You also show that you know nothing about the bidding process for government contracts. It is not "no bid" like you claim. I would encourage you to get an education and actually go in harms way fro this country once in your life before opening your mouth about how terrible it is.

I hope you called the cops anyway.

This is just one of several methods that home burglars are using to case neighborhoods. Others include offering to paint your address on the curb, offering to mow your lawn, distributing fliers for services; you get the point. They are trying to "hide in plain sight" so that no one gives them a second thought. once they map out the pattern of home occupancy in an area, they begin hit and run break-iins.

He did have a census badge (although I suppose those could be easily counterfeited), but given the news about Census workers lately, you're right; I probably should have called the cops.

He probably had warrants, if nothing else.

All due respect LA Confederate, You don't know me and I don't know you. Therefore neither one of us has any knowledge about the other. As for as my posting regarding a no-bid contract try reading the info for yourself:

http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-05-06/kbr-to-get-no-bid-army-work-as-u-s-alleges-kickbacks-update1-.html

Also I would suggest reading "Betraying Our Troops" by Dina Rasor & Robert Bauman.

In closing, as stated earlier "JMHO". I am entitled to mine and you to yours. And pray tell were in my post did I state "How terrible it is" in this country???

With all due respect, when a cite has "Bloomberg" in it, the steel doors slam shut and the drawbridge is raised.

Agree that there have been "no bid" contracts made, but that does not say they were outside accepted guidelines.

Your hand wringing about the evil Xe and Halliburton while defending the goof balls at the US Census Bureau and ACORN is a pretty good indication of your stance. Your defense is a Bloomberg article which as Grapeshot said makes your argument suspect at best especially when you say that KBR is the same company as Halliburton which is is most definitely not.

The article is very misleading. That is not a new contract, it is an award for a competitively bid LOGCAP contract that was bid back in '08 in which DynCorp, Fluor, and KBR were selected as finalists out of a field that included Shaw and a few other joint ventures. The article does not specify if this is the LOGCAP IV task order or an extension to the LOGCAP III task order that KBR has been opeating under since '01. Either way it does not matter, the jobs were bid and KBR was selected as the best fit for the reasons that the Army stated in the article; namely they know what they're doing, their infrastructure is already in place, and they will be demobing from the theater at the same time.

As far as your opinion, when it is educated and based in fact then you are entitled to it. When you are spreading false information and outright lies then I and others are going to call you on it. That goes double when the disinformation you're peddlijng relates to the troops in harm's way and the support missions that civilians are performing to keep those men and women at least moderately comfortable in a shitty environment. I went to Iraq for a year working for KBR in project management. I had rockets and mortars shot at me, I had RPGs lauched to try to shoot down my Blackhawk, I listed to the incoming and outgoing small arms fire, I saw the MedVacs flying sorties into and out of the FOB I was on. I saw all of this intricately first hand and actually know what I'm talking about. Your statements lead me and possibly others to believe that you do not.

4 year old WF in car for sale - I would think ACORN myself.:banghead:

I told them X people (true number kept secret here for cross reference padding safety)
now leave as you are trespassing I will not participate in unlawful attempts
to violate the constitution.

I would never stoop to not returning the census.
I ordered extras online so everyone in the house could not return there own form. :celebrate:celebrate
All they had to do was count how many they didn't get back. I would have
returned the long form as I had all the answers for it to mess up the books
but nothing to be gained with the fishing expo in the junk mail I got.

I did want to answer that we were all human and so cannot be in two places
at the same time unlike their demi god wannabe who walks on water. But showed
restraint and closed the door.

Look, just because you were around for the original committeedebate on the enumeration clause does not entitle you to bait others. :):p

Yup and I did fill it out...I filled in the number of people living at my residence as of 1 April. Their's their enumeration or head count. The rest is none of their business. Just because they ask doesn't mean they get the information and after seeing the geniuses that work for the Census, I have no desire to give them any personal information.
If they had the legal authority to gather the information then it would not be a problem. But they only have the right to get a HEAD COUNT. Period end of discussion.

What does the government do when a census taker has counted on all of his/her fingers and toes?

They hire another one.

Just a curious thought here!!! Why don't you folks from anyplace other than Louisiana chat on your own states forum pages? Not enough literate or seemingly so individuals to converse with or what? You will never see me arguing with someone from Kentucky or Georgia or wherever on the forums set aside for them. Give it a rest and keep your postings off of Louisianas pages. We have enough to talk about amongst ourselves.:cuss::celebrate

Would have been considered a not a too unreasonable question had it been left at that. You seriously taint your posting with the emoticons used and display a poor attitude.

First OCDO is not regional but rather national, even going international.

The state sub-forums are NOT for the exclusive use of the respective residents. Many of us are interested in the laws, happenings and people in other areas. We have developed friendships, lend a hand regularly to help each other out and add to the pool of knowledge - it is two way street.

You might wish to avail yourself of the opportunity to scan the many sub-forums on OCDO to see how commonplace it is for a poster to be from another state before you go trying to install fences around what you perceive to be your territory.

I daily peruse more forums than you have posts. That does not make what I say more valuable than that which you post - that is to the reader to decide.

You also might want to earn your strips - give people that don't know you the opportunity to see who and what you are before stepping in to criticize others.

72 years from now when they are allowed to release the information
to the justice department for prosecution I will take my chances.
I am betting there will be no government long before then.
