Well folks, with the libs pushing this bill forward as fast as they pulled this healthcare bill, we are faced with the immanent passing of the bill. If and when this passes, what do we do? Our constitutional rights are being destroyed one after another. So what exactly can we do.

We haven't lost yet. Call your assemblyman or assemblywoman and voice your concern. Sit down and write a letter to your representative, or a letter to the editor. Attend your city council meeting and ask for them to pass a resolution opposing AB 1934. Make and promote a youtube video exposing how ridiculous AB 1934 is. Do everything you can NOW before we resign ourselves to losing.

Sometimes I wonder if we (the gun owners of California) try as hard to protect our rights as the other states do. Let's start fighting today in full force. Dedicate some time to try to sway members of your local non-gun related club or organization. Go down to a Kinkos and print out flyers and post them wherever people who care might read them. Just do something.

That's the problem here is that they will not change their minds. Liberals NEVER care about what the people want or do not want. Take for example the national health care bill. Over 60 % of the people in the US did not want that bill but they passed it anyways. Liberals WILL push this thing through. I have called my assemblymen and senators and congressman you name it but it never does any good.

What other options do we have? At this point in time, we should be trying to prevent the bill from passing. I guarantee the thing that the Brady campaign wants us to do at this point is to resign and prepare to lose the ability to open carry. I have little desire to do what they would like to see us do. So the alternative is to fight with what means we have available.

To quote Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch fame, “Shoot what’s available, as long as it’s available, until something else becomes available.”

Well ladies and gents, we don't have anything else available at this point (right?), so lets keep on shooting.

if you want some ideas on what to do in this situation, shoot me a Pm and we can discuss on some strategies. I say let's play dirty like what politicians do to each other on TV, the OC movement needs more media coverage, national coverage on tv is the best way to speak, thats how all these dirty politicians get into office.

I disagree. While the media coverage that the OC movement here in California has spread nationally, and did in fact help the OC movement nationally, it also scared our idiot legislators into creating this bill, and hurt us badly in this state. We're in a catch-22 situation with the media. Say, for example, after AB1934 passes, we all go out an UOC with AR rifles (will still be perfectly legal) as a protest. I have no doubt that that would immediately trigger additional legislation adding rifles to the ban in the following legislative session. The courts are our only hope at this point, post McDonald.

As for defeating AB1934, our best bet here is to try and convince the governor to veto it, and do that by pointing out that it will be an unconstitutional law post McDonald and will just cost the state money losing a fight in court.

I don't think we should play dirty at all. But I also don't think this bill hurts us that badly either. Shocking I know. But really, how much do we reallycare if UOC is banned (other than on the basis of principle)? Our goal is LOC and the only way we'll getLOC is through SCOTUS and other legal cases. We will NOTget LOC by way of UOC.

But also don't misunderstand my statements, I am not advocating the loss of UOC, nor amI saying we should not work diligently to protect it, I am just saying it really isn't a great loss. IMO, our great loss was back in '68 with the Mulford Act.

Yes, it would have been nice to see CGF or NRA or CRPA orSAF or GOAfight the good fight on 12031(e) but quite frankly after 42 years one cannot say that more than enough time hadn't passed to challenge the e-violations and win. It just neverhappened, and now likely never will.

Keep your fingers crossed on McDonald. McDonald is the only way we'll ever see any kind of return to reasonable gun rights. Without McDonald I suggest you prepare to move because it will be very ugly in as short as 5 years, maybe less.

Coolusername i completely understand with what youare saying, but this could present us a problem. Really with any outcome the McDonald case has 50/50 chance. So in the meantime if we keep our fingers cross its not gonna change anything. i know LOC would be a lot better than UOC, but if we lose one right, its going to make it easier for us to lose other gun rights.

I don't think your 50/50 chance for McDonald prevailing is quite right. The only reasons I hear why he shouldn't prevail are:

Something about the states right to invalidate the 2nd amendment.

Carrying a gun is dangerous....Maybe it's more like some people shouldn't carry guns.

People wet their pants at the sight of a gun....fear of gunsis a treatable mental disorder.

The police are overtaxed by doing (e) checks.

There may be more I haven't heard about.

i know the McDonald case seems in good favor for us but you know how our government is, everything is swayed usually in favor of everything that should be our rights. I feel confident that we should prevail...but you just never know. We just can't leave our guards down and wait for things. Remember that everytime we lose its easier to lose again.

While keeping fingers crossed for McDonald we can still make our voices heard, and we will, and some have already. My hat is off to all those who took the time to attend the appropriations meeting, had the courage to speak out against tyranny, and made their voices heard loud and clear. They are all patriots.

Here's the reality, this bill will likely sail right through the legislature and get signed by our girly man governor. "How could this be?" you say. Well it's a bill that is sponsored by a termed out socialist, and ultimately will be signed by a termed out worthless RINO governor. That's the downside and unintended consequences of term limits. And let's face it, the PRK has lost its culture of liberty.

However, having said that, it doesn't mean we cannot make our voices heard, and take legitimate, responsible, above board action. Should this bill pass, then we open carry whatever is still legal after the dust settles.

In the meantime we will continue to be vocal, and unlike the years long "2 weeks" timeframe, SCOTUS will be ruling within the next 45 days or so. Continue to open carry, have your meetups, and educate while you still can.

If this bill goes through, I will most likely get together some sort of massive get together in the LA area where we all carry our shotguns, rifles, AR's whatever. I have to say if they think pistols are intimidating, wait till I carry around my custom Winchester Model 12.
