GIG HARBOR, Wash. (AP) -- A Pierce County sheriff's spokesman says a sheriff's deputy has shot his in-laws and barricaded himself in a Gig Harbor home.
Spokesman Ed Troyer said Friday night the mother-in-law has been airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He says the father-in-law is believed to be dead in the house.
The spokesman says teenage children who had been in the house are out and safe. Troyer says the deputy he identifies as Allen Myron remains in the house. A Tacoma police SWAT unit has been called.
Troyer says the deputy had been on medical light duty for a year and a half and was cleared to come back to work three months ago.
The News Tribune says Tacoma police will handle the investigation.
