I am probably one of the younger guys to post on here. I'm guessing, and this is just a guess, the average age of a poster on this forum is around 45. Not surprisingly, some of you guys dont seem to like not only me, but the younger generation all together. So great, you've got open carry, what happens when you pass on? Certain people need to be more open minded and less obtuse, because I am telling you, many attitudes here are driving away people my age.

I am 25 and don't have a problem with what's going on here. There are several on this forum who like to debate andprovoke arguments. You just have to take it in stride and not fall in to the trap. There is no sense fighting with each other when we have 90% of society to educate about our cause.

I don't think age has anything to do with it. Don't take this as a personal attack but when you first came into the forum you gave many the impression that you were a hard head. If someone responded to your posts in such a way that you did not understand. You took it as a personal attack against you.

You became insulting and rude. Now to be fair, there were many times that others including myself were rude as well. But it is human nature to respond in a like manner.

I for one respect your military service and I know that everyone else here does as well. That goes without question. But your responses to others here have indicated that you could give a rats behind as to what anyone else has done as long as everyone recognizes what you have done. I know this for a fact because of comments you have made regarding my service.

I think this is a fair analogy and if it is not then feel free to help me understand your way of thinking.

For the most part we all want the same thing here. Some of us have been at this longer than others and some have actually broken some new ground in this movement and of course it is always with the support of everyone here that those things are accomplished.

There are plenty of old timers here that may or may not seem friendly at first but with all of the trolls that come here can you really blame them? After you post and interact with the other members for a while they come to realize that you are one of us and things get better.

Maybe it is just better to let go of the past conversations and try to learn from each other and work together. United we stand and divided we fail. I welcome any new members that choose to come here in support and choose to exercise their rights.
Age doesn't matter and in fact the younger members are the future of this movement. As you have pointed out the manner in which we treat each other is a two way street. When I was your age I remembered that my parents taught me to have respect for seniors. I think that a younger individual who shows such respect is in turn respected by all. But that is just my .02.

Either way, I welcome all members old and young.

Fair enough. I've been a jerk at times.
However, I have referenced people to this site and they later told me they wouldn't join. One dude asked me how I deal with all old guys and how, "isnt it like talking to a stubborn old grandpa?"

now now young ones. we have had many of your experiences in life. it has tempered us, and increased our patience ten fold. we offer to share our wisdom, and experience. how you respond to this offer is ofcourse your choice. your welcome and important to us old guys; your the future of our movement. we will bend over backwards to help you avoid the prattfalls. the only thing i ask is don't treat us like we used to treat our parent's when we were young; as time went by i learned the wisdom behind all my father had told me, and wished i had listened more.

I think I speak for many when I say: "I don't give a hoot about someones age."

Act respectful;earn respect. It's that simple.

If a guy comes off as a young punk or an old punk he'll get the same treatment from me either way.

If a guy comes off as generally respectful and courteous, I will be respectful and couteous in return.

mr. gleason, you know you can't teach an old dog new tricks! plus anything we learn new, we'll forget later in the day when we have a senior moment. i think it's time for our mid-day naps, but we are still getting together to watch the lawrence welk show, and laugh in later right?

I have found, as an active member of this "open carry" movement, that I have to accept any people that share the same thoughts on self-protection as I do. This forum, has introduced me to people that I would otherwise never even think about "hanging out with". I have also made some good friends. I understand now, that even if I do not like you, I still need you. My vote is nice and all, but it is still just one vote, and I will not be able to protect any of my rights, on my own.

Now you ask why some of the old men don't like you? I can't answer that for you. As for me, when you post things like "I have plans to move to Pulaski or Suamico, its still mostly decent white folk there.", well I guess you crossed a line with that post... I guess you would just hate to have to live next to me, because I am not as white as you, and I guess not as decent? I could care less about your age, but the racist thing, well it's just not for me. I will still fight to protect your rights, but I am sorry if I still don't like you...

Speaking of "Dogs"....a few years ago one of my sons was outside in front of the house when two "punks" ride up on bicycles. They say to my son and his friend "Why did you hit my dog?". My son replied "I didn't hit your dog". Anyway, this goes back and forth and finally I go out and tell the two punks to leave immediately or the police will escort them off the property. After the punks leave I ask my son why these two punks kept saying he had hit their dog. My son and his friend are laughing at me and finally my son tells me that "Dog" means his friend or gang member buddy. Talk about words meanings changing over time.:exclaim:
