According to Mayor Daley, "any gun taken off [the street] saves thousands of lives in America."

So if there 200 million guns in America, and each one apparently kills thousands of people, that means that at least 200 BILLION people are killed just by America's guns.

Either that, or it means that Mayor Daley is a major league moron.

Daley? Making stupid, idiotic, boorish comments? I am shocked - SHOCKED! to learn that hizzonner is hollerin' out the back door.

A while ago when remarking on the current lawsuit, he said: "What, are we supposed to go back to the old days of "you got a gun and I got a gun, let's go out to the street and settle this"?"

This remark was made of course with Daley's trademark dismissive end-of-discussion arrogance.

In Chicago, folks who disagree with Daley don't get their garbage picked up, and then get charged with some violation of the sanitation code. They get parking tickets even when they have permits displayed, and lthough they are dissmissed it still costs time and effort to go to the hearing. It is government by thuggery. Alfonse Capone would have been a more benevolent despot.

No wonder Daley is so anti-2A. It is politicians like him the Amendment was designed to defend against.

I was born in Cook County Ill., a fact I'm not fond of. But no one gets to choose their birthplace. Back then Daley SR was mayor. It was the Mafia run county then and still is. Daley is just an idjit and hopefully the folks'll vote him out

He would be correct in that the same "thousands of criminals' lives" would be saved for every gun taken from law abiding citizens. Maybe that's what he meant?

Yes, he wants to save the lives of drug dealers, violent junkies, and his mafia buddies. The only thing honest citizens are good for are taxes and votes. And boy do he and his ilk have the sheeple well trained.

I've read the articles on this whole thing, including the ones on the McDonald vs Chitcago fears.Why is Chitcago still considered part of the USA? Those people running it and all their lackey sheeple voters have a mindset that is the opposite of the "real USA". Have none of them ever heard of the 40 states that are shall-issue? Have they never heard of open carry? It's like some form of North Korea. This crap is also evident in central MD, esp Baltimore city and PG and Montgomery counties. Plus DC. They need only look across the freakin Potomac.

Mayor Daley is just another elitist who understands what Chairman Mao meant with his comment that "power mainly comes from the barrel of a gun". Mayor Daley... and his ilk... understand very well that he who has the guns has the power.

Every elitist, from Obama to the the individual idiot that says they hate guns, understands that the only way to control people is to take away their ability to resist being controlled.

When the citizens have guns the government fears the people... when only the government has guns the people are screwed.

And the perfect example is Chicago where the law abiding people who are not allowed to have guns are screwed by both the common criminal... and a government... both of which have guns.

I don't feel sorry for most (the majority of voters) of the people of Chicago: They mustwant it that way, they voted for the bum (so remember, THEY are the enemy, too). Unfortunately the smarter people who live there -- and know betterthan to vote for the fool and his policies -- are forced to go along on the same ride.

Butthose liberal/socialistmindsets -- politicians and voters alike -- are probably 'institutionalized' in Chicago...Daley's father was the very same when HE was mayor. I don't see that changing anytime soon.
