We have toyed with the idea of a MC OC ride for a while (see: http://opencarry.mywowbb.com/forum54/33040-3.html) what would you really be interested in doing? You can see from the poll several ideas that I have. I think trying to set up a Poker Run from a bunch of different locations would be a nightmare to setup so that is why I suggested as an option the 50/50 raffle. I think starting from different locations (anywhere that is interested in being a start point) and meeting at a central location (Richmond), then make a large loop around Richmond would be easy to do for our first event like this.
The next questions are: How long of a loop?
What type of roads?
and, What do we do after we finish the loop?
A lot of this will depend on interest and how many will actually be able to do this ride.

Post up your interest, ideas and suggestions.

I'm in the Balt/Annap area, but might be interested in something.

Would probably trailer down, since the DC beltway is a nightmare on the best of days, but I guess 301 would be an option, too.

Anything sounds good to me. A loop around Richmond could be a nightmare, depending on attendance, without some sort of LEO escort.

Why not meet at bikes in the bottom?

Second Sunday of every month at Poe's pub there is a HUGE gathering of all kinds of riders (like 120 bikes easy!). Then then ride down rt 5 over the Jamestown ferry and back to Richmond via southside roads. Have to find a lunch stop or something.

No idea if poes is friendly or not. I have OC there but my OC is VERY low key. You can see it but I don't draw much attention to it.

I was playing with my mapping software for different loops, one was starting and ending at the Capital, going out 64E to 295N to 64W to 288S to 95S to 295N to 64 and back to the Capital. It makes for a loop of 120 miles. The other idea was one large loop with dropping off and picking riders along the way, Fairfax to Charlottesville to Lynchburg to Petersburg to Norfolk to Richmond and back to Fairfax. This loop ended up around 500 miles, of course you could join and leave anytime you wanted. The big thing would be to have approximate times that the group would roll through these different cities and a pick up point at each location. That would be a long ride for a lot of people if they went the entire way. And trying to coordinate fuel and food stops could be difficult other than you fuel yourself and bike at the different pick-up cities.

Last year there was a ride called "RedWing 19" to honor some Navy Seals and Army Special Ops guys that lost there lives. That ride started in Fairfax and ended in Fairfax, it was an in Iron Butt Assoc, In-State 1,000 mile ride in 24 hours or less. Everybody left and finished at one location, rode a predetermine course, but, at there on pace.

I know we can figure out something to do, but that is the big question, what do we want to do? And, how many want to do it?

Can't make August (one weekend in Maine, the next in Texas makes for a long month).

I like the idea of multiple start points, meeting in Richmond, then a ride. The "organized" part of the ride would probably have to be less than 100 miles or so, so that people can make it from all over and still be prepared to ride in a group and then ride home. Unless they made a weekend out of it. (Not everyone is an iron butt, streetdoc :D)

I like the idea of a big loop of the state, too, with people joining and leaving as needed.

Need a rain date, too.

How would July 24th (Sat)or 25th (Sun) work for everybody that is interested? Next, what do you want to do, meet someplace and do a smaller 100 mile loop on the Inerstatearound Richmond or a larger 250 mile loop with pick up and drop off along the way, mostly non-Inerstate but major roads.

I'll go because it is from the forum....but personally i despise riding on interstates. Find me a good 600 series road with about 30 corners per mile and I am a happy camper...

Interstates are only to get you to the twisties!!

Look at the medium loop, Rt 3 in Fredericksburg to Rt 20 to Rt 15, etc, only a section of 288. Thisoption for the most part is more country roads. If somebody can plot a loop around Richmond on country roads with not of stop and go traffic, I'm all for it. This isn't just me doing the planning, please post ideas and options. I'm sure that somebody can come up with something better than I did.

When the route is decided on, I'll look into a route for those of us in Hampton Roads that want to ride up and meet up with you guys somewhere Southwest or Richmond and ride along till we reach 17 and head backdown 17...maybe even throw in an OClunch at the County Grill on the way back...any Hampton Roads OC bikers interested?

With only 12 people responding to the poll, I don't feel that there is enough interest in planning a formal event. I think what might be better is if we individually just post up when we are going to for a ride and in what area to see if anybody else would be interested in going along.
My bike, a BMW R1200RT, kinda stands out from behind, if you see me, get my attention, wave, honk, stop and talk, whatever.

Lets just plan on the next POE'S PUB bikes in the bottom. It is always the second sunday of the month.

People start arriving about 830...food starts a bit after 9.

Today there must have been 150 bikes there of all sorts. Went for a nice ride out to cumberland and back. Hot as hell though.

And in July you can conceal!!

Mine was locked in my bike.

As it gets closer we can figure out a rallying point, maybe I'll just fly a gadsden flag...

Traveling with my club through Virginia starting Thursday morning. I have to go over to Maryland to get started, but we will be coming from King George County to Richmond, over to I-81 and then south to New Orleans then over to Texas! The Maryland guy going with is so excited to OC!
