I work part time non-uniform and we use the trespasslaw as our main source of enforcement to catch and stop the sale of merchandise in our parking lot. I am not going to go into where so do not ask. I will not answer. If you every see me in person ask then. The area we work is mostly in a large parking lot. Open carry is not an issue in the parking lot. We do use the trespassinglaw and the right not to serve anyone law. The management has made it clear when we are to step it up to a metro involvement. When Metro arrives, the first thing we do is to ID ourselves and show our employee badge, metro may pull one of us aside, asked what our policy is. Many all ready know from working with us in the past. The officer will tell the problem person as a representative[/b] of this property the facility employee is asking that you leave. If they leave, it is a done deal.

If an employee of an establishment is giving incorrect policy information to metro after verifying the person is indeed an employee metro will run with that info unless it is unreasonable or questionable.

If we had previous run-ins with the problem person or they are really jerks we then call Metro and tell them we want them ban from the property. Metro will then ask them for ID or a name and date of birth. After the information check, if they have a warrant, they go to jail on that warrant. If the ID information does not match what they said they go to jail for giving a law officer false information. If the ID comes back matching and on warrants metro will enter their info into a database. Remembering at this point, we have informed Metro we want them ban from the property Metro will inform them they are now in the database and not to ever set foot on the property again. If they leave, again it is a done deal. If we catch them again, Metro is called at that point we have satisfied both Metros and our management requirements and they will be arrested for trespassing. This has almost nothing to do with open carry however, is one example of how the trespassing law is used. My point to all this is as a rule of thumb at least for our facility it takes a lot for a person to be asked to leave the property and even more to be arrested for trespassing. At least for most business, there are several hoops to jump through before not- following the rules turns into breaking the law. However it all can change in a nanosecond if all of the sudden the person turns into a belligerent idiot. We deal with many thousands of people end up with metro involvement may be twice every other event. Ironically, most are out of town low life’s trying to make a quick buck.

There is the clause enabling a private property owner to set the rules for who may and may not be on the property.

If the owner is "vexed or annoyed" by your carrying, they can ask you to leave -- if you don't, you are trespassing.

Now, think about this -- casinos are a place where there is a lot of money. The casinos only want their own guys to have gun there, and want to be able to assume that anyone else with a gun is a bad guy.

I want to be able to defend myself if I happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This is a direct conflict. But it's their house, so their rules. Another good reason to stay out of casinos!

Holy cow!! Anyone know where I can get a spell check for dummies? That is what I get for not going to bed. I spelled it just as I say it. At least I was consistent. I have always struggled with my spelling and it is worse when I am tired. I have made goofs before when blogging. However, I believe I will chock this one up as the grandest. Talk about red face when I reread it this morning and saw the replies.  I will say other than the spelling it is true and how we do use the trust passing laws. You can tress me on that one.

You spelled it correct. You just used the wrong word. ;)

And as far as spellcheck goes. Google Chrome has it preloaded in the browser. And it uses a lot less resources the IE. I used to use firefox but the browser would crash all the time on my laptop thats just over a year old. And it's no slouch either, 2.0 ghz core 2 duo possessor, 4 gigs ram, 1 gig video card and 500 gig HD running on vista 64 bit os. One of these days I would like to double the ram but funds are short right now.

Ok now, this thread is starting to get hi-jacked.

I hate to put kids in the middle but, could have had the pimple face kid tell the kids they couldn't play in the play ground. ;)

Which ones? And was it that they didn't care, or didn't notice? If some casinos have no problem with it, that breaks the ice when talking to others -- and it gives them something to brag about.

Dump that Redmond junk and get any system that ends in "nux." Works great on just about anything, far more stable, FREE, free UPGRADES, most good apps in Windoze have Linux conterparts (or are versions of apps originally in Linux), and offers secutiry that Windoze users can only dream of.

We now return you to your regular programming.

Unfortunately after the band made them take off their guns, they don't dare
boot up linux or the evil penguins filling the screen will cause a large wet spot
that will short out the laptop.
No you can't help sheep, just herd them into corrals so they don't bother anyone else.
They are more than welcome to chip in and pay Bills first WA income tax bill.

I can't go against an owner trespassing someone, I just did it to the census worker,
and expect the same response from the cops if they show back up.

It would be nice if the cops would demand that the "trustpassee" prove he
has the authority he is claiming to have. i.e run the business license and
see if the owner even knows who the yahoo is.
