Curious question, where are rural places around/outside of Phoenix which are gun friendly?

This is just a question, as I've not made any decisions yet.

Are there any gun friendly rural communities around or outside of the Phoenix area? The distance would need to be a drivable distance to Phoenix for work. In said statement, there is a dog which needs a backyard for exercise.

I was looking at N AZ at first, but as an IT Specialist I've a hard time finding a job when the job is thousands of miles away. People like in person interviews even after seeing my rather impressive resume.

As to the OP, generally speaking AZ is gun friendly. You won't really find cities and town that are anti-gun, especially since AZ has near total preemption. Even lib places like Sedona and Flag don't put up much of a fight, if at all.

I've carried in just about every city here in the 'Flatlands' without much being said, if it was even noticed.

Most of the reactions come from transplants. If they question it, I just explain that it's a legal activity and answer any questions they have.

You shouldn't have any problems!

In general driving north or west of the Metro area 25 miles or so will get you to a place where you may shoot in federal land. State land to the east is closed to target shooting.

The Northern part of the state is the most forgiving of target shooters.

Just remember to pickup your brass and any other debris or the north will become unfriendly too.

+ On July 29 Constitutional carry kicks in so, as in Alaska no permit will be required to carry concealed and none is or will be required to carry openly.

Your neighborhood has no say in the matter of carry.

OT but has anyone had any problem with HOA's being "anti-OC"?
Just curious.
They might be anti but all they can do is bark.
I have heard a lot of horror stories about HOA's but not relative to modes of carry or gun ownership.

One HOA member went on a shooting spree at a meeting 3 or 4 years back. I know they objected to that but probably started packing their own at subsequent meetings.

What part of the Phoenix area are you looking at IK? If you're up on the north side you could find a spot in Black Canyon City or New River. Those are both moderately rural. If on the west side consider Buckeye.

IK one thing you'll find about AZ (and many other places I'm sure) is that even in some rural areas you'll find the type of housing developments like what you are trying to avoid. That doesn't mean that the a whole community will have homes tucked in all over themselves. Fly down and check out the areas for yourself. Heck there are some areas around Scottsdale that still have a rural feel.

Please see the map. Anything inside the thick black line is considered gun-friendly.

Yeah but they are outside of the price range of most everyday people.

When you say gun friendly community are you talking about friendly to gun owners or about people that shoot in their own yard from time to time?

Their is a significant difference.

Arizona is a gun friendly state but most communities don't like to hear them go boom in the middle of the night or day.
