An 80-year-old Chicago man shot and killed an armed assailant who broke into his two-story house in a pre-dawn home invasion Wednesday on the city's West Side.

"It's a good thing they had a gun, or they might be dead," said Curtis Thompson, who lives next door to the couple, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Hard to believe this last quote actually made it into the paper.

I'm very glad the gentleman had the means to defend himself.

But not every story is an "open carry" story. The guy was in his house. Open carry (or concealed carry for that matter) had nothing to do with it.

Also why we need a good Castle Doctrine law.

Bet this story will be the http://www.thearmedcitizen.com/ soon. I like reading those stories and hearing about the bad guys who got what they deserved. Also reinforces the reason I prefer to be armed.

It would be nice if stories like this would change the wacko mayor Daily's stand on gun control.
