Both the Journal Sentinel and TMJ4 have done stories recently focusing on the open-carry issue with regard to the Gonzalez cases (both the shooting and the federal lawsuit he filed)

http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/95462759.html

http://www.jsonline.com/news/crime/93744194.html

In both instances, Judge Lynn Adelman's comments in his decision (that open-carry is almost certain to alarm people, almost certain that people will call police, and that: "Many employees and shoppers are likely to think that the person with the gun is either deranged or about to commit a felony or both." Have been quoted by the media.

Jeff Wagner of AM 620 has also allocated segments of his program to discussion of open-carry and he also makes statements that he thinks "most people" would be alarmed if they saw someone open-carrying.

The Journal Sentinel, AM620, and WTMJ Ch 4 are all owned by Journal Communications.

As media seems to want to make open-carry an issue in these cases, they should have an obligation to show a true representation of the reality of open-carry in Wisconsin and the open-carry movement.

We know that 1000's of mothers and fathers, blue-collar and white-collar, old and young, and everyone in between choose to open-carry on a daily basis in Wisconsin. We know the majority of those people are not making a point, testing a law, or engaging ANY other motivation than just personal protection.

Please take the opportunity to send a polite email, postal mail, or call Steve Wexler, Executive Vice-President of Television and Radio operations for Journal Communications and ask that they include in their "sensational" coverage about open-carry a more realistic and factual representation of the real open-carry movement and the real motivations of open-carriers.

Thank you for the heads up. Just sent an e-mail to explain how fed up I am with all the lies and half trues we receive from our media everyday. They shouldhold themselvesto higher standards.
