As dumb as it sounds I just found out that I could legally OC here in Ohio. I do not have a CC permit so I thought I'd try the OC. Went out this morning and did some shopping with my kids at Wal-Mart in Mansfield, OH. and things went well. Nobody said a thing. I carried my smallest pistol (Taurus PT-111) on my right hip loaded with 115 grainjhp's. As far as this being a test run I was kinda nervous and almost expecting some sort of comotion with a store manager or even another customer. But, not one person said a word. I actually stopped in the sporting goods dept. after getting groceries and chatted with the associate working the ammo lock-up. They asked if I needed any ammo. I feel good that nobody said anything but that was just today. I've tried to read up on OC and there seems to be a hugh grey area with this subject. Is it legal, yes but, apparently not all favor this law. Over the past few days I've discussed OC with several people and they all have the same reaction, WHAT? THAT'S LEGAL? NO, YOU MUST BE MISTAKEN. Everyone has heard of CC but OC is a whole other topic and most do not know about it. I didn't and I have been into handguns for years and own 6. I did have a permit to carry in another state years ago but even then didn't know anything about OC. Nobody ever talked about it andit was never brought up in the class I took. Why is it so hush hush? No wonder thegeneral public has a problem with it. It isn't common knowledge like CC. The one big problem with OC here in Ohio is that the law is such that you cannot OCwhile in your vehicle. That makes zero sense. I got to Wal-Mart, went around to the back of my mini van, took out the magazine and had to load it. Then put it in my pistol and then to the holster which I was already wearing. If you are planing on OC'ing this is a serious pain in the a#! Not too many places I'm gonna walk to. Oh well, it's the law.

Congratulations!

A couple of suggestions if I may, 1) use paragraphs to improve your posts' readability, and 2) check out the forums of Ohioans for Concealed Carry, which also have an open carry section.

http://ohioccwforums.org/

Users from both here and there hope to read more about your experiences and your questions.

Carry on!
