    my grandfather was a ww2 vetand he took his home

    has anyone had a relative that also brought theirs home?

    or did he steal it?

    i think switzerland lets everyone take their weapons home

    my grandmother got rid of it......thrown out or sold i dont know

    Hopefully she sold it, for a good price. A M1 Garand in good condition can be worth well over a GRAND!!!!

    the story my mom told me is that everytime my grandmother open the closet it would fall out so she got rid of it

    While the M-1 Garand was being phased out to be replaced by the M-14 in the early 1960's, Army enlisted men undergoing discharge from service were being offered purchase their issues M-1 Garand for personal use. Usually it was the latest edition - H&R contract.

    I was given the same deal -- $63 for my H&R M-1 Garand, which was NIB when I received it and lightly used afterward.

    I refused the deal......

    Didn't the 68 GCA end that practice, that is what I have been told?

    Well I did some real gomer stuff when I was younger.

    Quite often the best/hardest lessons learned are those we only have to learn ONCE unless we are already dumber than a box a rocks.
