So some friends and I will be going camping over the summer, I haven't been camping in a very long time. Can anyone tell me what the rules are as far as firearms in state parks? Specifically, carrying and transporting but also plinking with something like a Ruger 10/.22. If you're in a remote area is plinking kosher?

You can carry in state parks just like everywhere else. Discharging a firearm, except on a gun range in a state park is prohibited.

The regulations are actually contained in the WACs
OK, thanks for the info. Do you (or anyone else) happen to know if their are designated areas for shooting? Sorry to sound annoying, but I've never been outside of an indoor range.

Not in the RCWs
I thought there were some buildings or areas in buildings that were banned. I remember seeing a thread about a meet up in Port Angelas when the park ban was lifted and there was a discussion about one of the visitor centers and an area that was banned.

Only in National Parks.....where "Federal Buildings" exist.

If you wish to camp out and do some plinking you might consider camping in the National Forest. Many of the National Forest campgrounds are not very developed.

Greenwater is an awesome area for recreational shooting. Just be responsible, and don't go firing off into the woods across from your camp site, like some people I know.
