man i went to go get me a voice recorder, didn't realize how expensive they are. wal mart cheapest one was 30 bucks.
but this got me thinking though is what technique do you use to get it out. i mean i haven't had many experiences with the cops but the 2 times i have they made a point not to go put your hands anywhere near your pants. so my question how do you get it without the cop freaking out, especially if you got a gun right next to your pocket.
and second do you try turning it on and holding even if the cop can see it. or do you try turning it on and keeping it in your pocket without cop seeing or knowing about it?

allot of the folks i know that have video or recording devices all turn the devices on the moment a law enforcement official is in the area...before anything starts, if it's going to. also, allot of people keep em in their back pocket or pocket in the shirt...i think they make nice lil ones that also clip onto your belt and shirt or whatever as well as many other ways...in watches, pins etc.

Yeah, keep things in pockets away from the gun, and pull them out as soon as you see LEO
When I OC my pocket layout changes. My phone/voice recorder goes in the left pocket away from gun, and my wallet also goes in the left back pocket, away from gun.

Most people aren't aware of it, but cops keep a voice recorder on their belts. That's what one of those vertical, long packs hold. Any time they're out of the vehicle or going to a call, they're supposed to turn it on.
Likewise, you should consider something similar for your belt or, if you wear tactical shorts as I do, in the front mag/multiuse pocket. It would be easy to stick in a small recorder (hell, my mp3 player and cell phone also record) in your pocket or on your belt.

I would have it clipped somewhere on my collar or belt

i got my recorder today...gonna stop by microcenter and pick up an 8gb card for it...

they seem very cheap on ebay. you have to tell me if it works good or not. i a bit skeptical on it so far. but i do like the style of it. i just know i be so mad if i bought it and the quality is crappy.

Does anyone's voice recorders lock. I mean if I go and get one from Wally World is there a way to keep what is recorded from being erased. I know several have said they use there I-Phones which are password protected, I just wondered if voice recorders are the same?

Also have a what if question. Do you turn off your recorders in a movie theater? I only ask because of the possibility of being charged with piracy. I know of the story of the OCer in AZ who won a case against some LEO's who pulled him out of a theater. I think a recording of the event would be helpful if something like that happened, but worry a charge might stem from the recording(unintenional of course) of the movie. I know it may sound outlandish just wanted some others thoughts.
