Headed to the Smokies soon and will of necessity dip into North Carolina.

What do I need to be wary of regarding carry there? As you know Tennessee is fairly reasonable.

Thanks for all help.

Good info here. If you decide to OC, just don't carry in the places listed as no CC and you should be fine. If you end up in Cherokee, and have a CCP, I would just cover up. Not sure how they feel about OC. And it's likely that they can make their own rules as an Indian Reservation. Don't know for sure though. They are the Cherokee Nation, and as such have a broader leeway with their laws than other places in NC. Take the Casino for an example. Have fun.

Much obliged, Anthony.

Let me see if I can recap: CC with a permit would be the best way to go, which is fine since that's what I prefer. OC is generally OK but problematical because of local regulation. Are these fair statements?

As I'm sure you know Tennessee requires a permit for either but has total state preemption except for a few pre-1986 local ordinances grandfathered in. One I've heard of specifically exempts libraries. Go figure. I guess such things are the result of tradeoffs among legislators.

Anyway, I'm grateful for the advice. If you see me around Robbinsville or Joyce Kilmer give a wave.
