Peter Mayhew -- AKA the Wookiee Chewbacca -- will be the guest of honor July 3 for the grand opening of Cunningham’s Indoor Shooting Range at Power and Rittenhouse roads in Queen Creek.

The facility, announced late last year during the construction drought as a backup plan of sorts by Mesa contractors Chris Cunningham and Ted Williams, will include 10 shooting lanes with an observation area, classrooms where people of all ages can take gun safety and other classes and a shop to sell guns and ammunition onsite.

I wonder what was the original plan, if the shooting range was a backup plan?
