And so it begins............

Any New Yorker interested in knowing if a neighbor has a pistol permit may check online at http://www.whospackingny.com/ a recently anonymously launched website.

I down loaded the file and it contains 312,463 names and addresses. Some of these are said to be police officers and public officials.

Interesting.

The website doesn't come up for me. The story does and is interesting.

The Brady's are desperate! LOL

If I was a criminal I would cross reference the list and only break into homes that are unarmed.

Worse yet target the homes with know guns and wait until they have left for work.

Publishing such data bases are irresponsible and should anything occur to the people on the list, the publisher of these should be held accountable.

they say "the server company for www.whospackingny.com has told the association that it doesn't know who launched the website."Dont people have to register to put up web sites? Maybe that should be public information. Put his address up for criminals to see.

my steak knives are not registered with ANYBODY!
bu i did admit to having steak knives on a public forum

My lawyer has advised me not to comment on whether or not I own steak knives, I shall take his advice.

These lists should be accessible by the public.

Any business of the state should be fully available to anyone who wants to examine it, unless it involves state secrets.

Interesting.

Whois didn't yield any useful information but I did notice this at the bottom:

Donate to UNICEF. Because the world has bigger problems than yours.

Meh, guess that doesn't really mean anything either...

When they post personal addresses which can include domestic, assault and crime victims is a clear disregard to others safety.

I tend to disagree. I don't think the general public can gain any useful information from knowing. What do people plan on doing with the info. It reminds me of in Idaho when the peoples names that drew wolf tags got published. The man that Harvested the first wolf got allot of grief from anti hunting orgs.
