GRNC Alert 06-17-10:
NRA sellout on HR 5175 creates national maelstrom

Beyond liberal groups, scores of gun rights organizations and ostensibly friendly conservatives have lined up against the NRA over the DISCLOSE Act ...

Read Paul Valone's column at the link listed below:
http://bit.ly/NRASellout-2

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE

HR 5175, the DISCLOSE Act, would effectively silence you. By forcing organizations to disclose membership rolls and their largest donors every time they advertise for or against a political candidate, such ads would become pointless as a large portion of the ad time would be taken up with such disclaimers. It would also have a chilling effect on donations.

The NRA now claims it is not selling out because they are neutral on the issue. Of course they were originally opposed to it before Congressman Heath Shuler created an exemption written so narrowly that it only affects the NRA. That's correct; the NRA would become the lone voice for your gun rights. So if you believe that the NRA will always (if it even does now) represent your best interests, locally as well as nationally then go back to sleep and try to ignore the sounds of your rights slipping away.

BUT WHAT CAN I DO?

Glad you asked. The answer is: plenty! First go to Paul Valone's column to get the full story:
http://bit.ly/NRASellout-2

Then follow the actions below and let the politicians and the NRA know that you are not fooled by this ruse.

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

* CONTACT NRA OFFICERS BELOW

Rather than calling general membership numbers, here are some numbers that go directly to NRA officers. Let them know how you feel about having the world's biggest gun rights organization betray the interests not only of its members, but of gun owners everywhere. North Carolina residents should also call the politician who brokered the deal, Congressman Heath Shuler.

Congressman Heath Shuler: 202- 225-6401. If possible, call on Friday, June 18 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM - but if you miss that time, call regardless.

I can't understand why all you little Gun Owners Organizations think the NRA "sold us out". I believe it is because of one reason, and one reason only; you think by covering their own behind, the NRA has left you all behind... Since 1871 the National Rifle Association has been the ONLY voice of the American Gun Owner, and protector of our 2nd Amendment rights and they still are. HR5175 isn't just about 2a rights, it is your 1st amendment rights these Socialist pigs are after. No, they want to take your voice away from you, then they will attack the 2nd amendment after the fact.

I'm a Life Mbr of the NRA, but I'm also a member of the GRNC, the GOA, USCCA, USA Carry, and this forum. But if I were to depend upon one Organization to effectively fight for my rights, it would be the NRA, they've been doing a bang up job for 139 years, how long have you been in business?:?

Look to which orgs spend their time and effort going after 2nd amendment issues, and weigh that against orgs that spend their time and effort badmouthing other 2nd amendment orgs.

Being an NRA member is like being a Union member. They bargain collectively, however, they often do things 'for the greater good', or 'for the average sportsman' that screw over the rest of us.
