So when I enter Ky. am I allowed to load up and carry and transport on seat or dash? and what should I look out for as far as open carry, are school zones a issue while open carry and what about driving through the school zone do I have to case it.
When you enter KY you can throw your case away. There is no law that requires encasing a handgun in KY. You can legally keep the handgun in plain sight on the seat, on the dash or even in the glove compartment, loaded or unloaded. The KY law prohibits carry on school property. There is no KY 1000' law, just federal. You may go on school property as long as the gun is not brandished or pointed at anyone and it remains in your car. I would not recommend dashboard for this. If you do not have CCDW it can not be concealed. Glove compartment is not concealed. No obscure rules, no carry in places that serve alcohol, jails, prisons. Government buildings are OK, including police stations and sheriff's office, private property and post-secondary schools may ask you to leave, but no penalty as long as you comply.
