I bought my new hunting license a few days ago, and I was flipping through the booklet that they give you, the Pennsylvania Hunting & Trapping Digest, and I noticed on page 16 in the General Hunting Regulations, in two places a LTCF is called a "License to Carry Firearms Permit."

Why can't they get the term correct?

    It is NOT a permit!!!!

BTW, yes, calling a LTCF a permit is one of my personal pet peeves.

    License to Carry Firearms Permit...

    Isn't that technically redundant?

They are probably referring to the "Sportsman Firearms Permit" (SFP) which is obtainable at your local county treasures office ($6) with a valid hunting, fishing, trapping or gun dog license.

The SFP is indeed a permit to carry, just with more restrictions than a LTCF.

    Sig229,

No, the are not referring to the Sportsmans Permit, although it is also mentioned in a few different places on that same page, they are referring to the LTCF, and they call it a permit.

Don't complain here, complain to the editor of the publication. Just don't start off your letter with, "Hey, Stupid!"

I'm not complaining, just pointing it out.

As to writing to the Editor, I suppose I could do that, but since this is an official publication of the Pennsylvania Game Commission, it is my opinion, that they should've had their terminology correct before going to print.

Anyways, these discussion boards have been a little slow lately . . . I was just trying to start up some conversation.
