That is why my wife asked me if I was willing to work with the reporter on background (to discuss NC gun laws, etc. outside the article itself so she would have a better understanding of the topic in general) and to help her find some people who would be willing to speak to her on the record.

If we do not attempt to set the record straight, then can we really be upset when the record is wrong?

Reporters are not subject matter experts. They often have to rely on help/guidance from those they cover to get them started. The easier we make it for them, the more likely they are to get the full story - which means better info to the masses.

I know she would, but I want to move this along a little bit first... if she has time to talk to a couple of people first, it would make a meeting much more productive for everyone involved.

So everyone else knows the scoop, I spoke with her at length on the phone the other night. We are meeting tomorrow evening to discuss more about it.

I hope to have all the contact information from the volunteers to give her. Once I get that, i will contact those and let them know who will be calling them.
