• We are now running on a new, and hopefully much-improved, server. In addition we are also on new forum software. Any move entails a lot of technical details and I suspect we will encounter a few issues as the new server goes live. Please be patient with us. It will be worth it! :) Please help by posting all issues here.

Been delayed for several days- the appearance/theme will be noticeably different I believe.

I regularly participate in about a half a dozen different forums. The majority of them use vBulletin.

The difference is astounding. I've been quietly complaining (meaning that I am grateful to have this forum to use and at no cost, but boy it sure is a pain! :)) about this site for as long as I've been a member here. It is absolutely horrible at handling the posting of quoted material, and properly quoting previous posts. There are often misunderstandings due to mis-attributed quotes.

The link handling is abysmal as well, especially when it comes to editing a post. It is impossible to edit a link to correct it, you must completely delete the link and associated text and start over.

Anyway... yeah, I will be VERY happy once they get vBulletin up and running.

The look and feel will be different, no doubt. vBulletin is extremely customizable, so John and Mike will have much discretion on how things end up looking.

Is it too late to request special features in the new forum software?

For example, I would love to a have a button where I can, with one keystroke, send a PM to Grapeshot telling him he is a chowderhead. Typing out insulting PM's to him all the time istiring. :):p

Oh, and a button where I can overridehimputting me on "ignore"? :):p:p

Raise your hand (or add a dancing monkey)if you were on OCDO they last time (maybe the first time) the forum was upgraded.:monkey

I think there are probably less than 20 active members that were here then and now. THAT was an old forum. If I remember correctly you had to send an email to John or Mike to register. :D
