To interest and attract new and younger members, promote, practice and encourage legal gun carry.

It is likely that in a year or two concealed carry will become available also. By some sick logic or tradition has required permitting by the state with various extraneous requirements such as fees, training and acceptance by some gun control organization.

Our Post and/or the Legion could be ready to provide a nonpartisan alternative to traditional gun control groups promoting legally armed citizens.

Mr. Huffman:

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.

Given that the "legion" is a government entity (if there is such a thing),

Our Post and/or the Legion could be ready to provide a nonpartisan alternative to traditional gun control groups promoting legally armed citizens.

Are you suggesting the "legion" (government) become or continue to be a "gun control group?"

The NRA is a gun control group from the right just as BCPGV is from the left.

In the same sense that the National Rifle Association is a gun control group but absent the partisanship of the NRA. It's not about gun-control but about control of your money, hearts, minds and VOTES.
