Judge orders Iowa sheriff to issue gun permit

I came across the above article today. An interesting case, a sheriff denies a citizen the right to carry a weapon because of what that citizen has said and believes. The case is more of a First Amendment one than a Second Amendment one but sets a good precedent regardless. A bit sad that it took so long for the case to run it's course.

While this is basically the judicial equivalent of a "bitch-slap" to the tyrannical sheriff, it really should be a requirement for all prospective peace officers prior to employment.
