There has been a few articles in the news the last couple of weeks about the Sheriffs overcharging for the LTCF.

For those that don't know, the law states that only $25 may be charged for the license.

In an article above, last year, the Bucks County Sheriff has collected $150,046 in (unauthorized) fees

Audio from Bucks County Commissioners meeting:

Skip to the last 10 to 15 minutes (sorry for audio quality, its the counties fault)
This is interesting. The Sheriff stated to a Commissioner that he was authorized by PA Sheriffs Association to charge more for the LTCF. (The SA has no authority in this matter)
And another Commissioner claims that the Sheriff only gets $1 and $19 goes to the state. (This guy is lost)

David Green has done an excellent job of compiling a report on all the counties in the state that violate the law when issuing LTCF.

And a heads up for those who have licenses that expire after the new year.
If the HB 2632 does not pass, the LTCF fee will drop to $20 as the Modernization fee gets removed on Jan. 10, 2011.
HB 2632 changes the Modernization fee from temporary to permanent.

This report is AWESOME.

Has Mr. Green forwarded this info to the PA Attorney General? Is there any plan to bring suits against the offending counties for breaking PA State Law? Personally, I'd love to see Allegheny Co. get wrapped up in a multi-charge lawsuit that would reveal the fact that they are BREAKING STATE LAW every time they issue (or deny) a permit.

Not that such a charge should surprise anyone who live in, or has visited Allegheny County. If you want to see what their REAL plans for "the future of Law Enforcement are in Pittsburgh" are, just go watch some of the video from the G20 summit there last year. That was just a "test run" for their vision of future LEA standard operating procedures...

Other issues in the 2A community have been brought to the attention of the AG. Unfortunately he has been too busy campaigning to do anything for us in the state.
I have suggested to Mr. Green to supply copies of the report (as a complaint) to the 2 departments in the Harrisburg that handle State fraud. The Auditor General and the Office of Inspector General. (OIG).

Anyone who wants to see this take movement in their area, I would suggest contacting Mr Green at the email in the report. I'm sure he will gladly help you with information and what methods have worked for him.

No law suits are pending yet that I know about.
