The East Palo Alto Police Department has still not resolved the issue of the discriminating and threatening remarks made by Detective Rod Tuason on facebook in regards to the treatment of common, law-abiding open carriers in the City of East Palo Alto. All inquiries made into this matter by several gun rights groups here in California have been met with the same stonewalling response: "The investigation is still pending." This investigation has been pending since early February 2010. Any reasonable investigation into a matter of this nature would have been concluded by now. We will protest this lack of action from the EPA PD in getting to the bottom of this incident directly in front of the East Palo Alto City Council on July 20, 2010. The Responsible Citizens of California will also address the city council on this matter during the public hearing portion of the EPA City Council Meeting. Please join us in calling out Detective Rod Tuason and the East Palo Alto Police Department on July 20, 2010.

(Please note that Open Carry will not be allowed at this event. The East Palo Alto City Hall is located in close proximity to a school zone and Open Carry is not allowed for public meetings and also prohibited in a government building. However, if you wish to bring an empty holster to make a statement, that practice will be allowed and encouraged.)

For those who may have forgotten about Tuason, here is a little refresher:

Open Carry is not directly prohibited for public meetings, but as you mentioned, 626.9 and 171b still apply.

Bloggers are now weighing in on the pending protest event against Detective Rod Tuason next Tuesday at the East Palo Alto City Council Meeting. Apparently, the public outrage over this incident hasn't died down much over the past 5+ months.

You will notice that the blog appears to be for correctional officers. In reading the comments, it seems to me that this is more of a warning to fellow officers that what you say on internet social groups can come back to haunt you. I do not see this as continued public outrage, as this blogger doesnt appear to oppose or defend Tuason's stupidity.
